Why do some of the later models, like the Skeleton Saturn have problems with games like Space Harrier, In the Hunt, and I think a couple others (Outrun?). I also read about Metal Slug.

Why is this? I dunno if it's true, but whatever..

Different board revisions; I think there were around 20 depending on the CD control chip/board revision combination. Same as how you can pick up a duff SNES (the infamous controller port bug) or duff Mega Drive (poor audio) in the wild, thanks to the various revisions of the console - or how very early EA titles won't work on a MD2 thanks to the TMSS system.

I didn't think Sega would change them THAT much. Huh...
