Dubbed The Mircosoft "Origami"

It's even seen playing HALO...

They claim it combines the blackberry, ipod, and Xbox into one...and even more...

So much for Microsoft supporting Gizmondo! :P

It'll become another status symbol system like the guys at my college who prance around with X-Box 360's but don't actually play video games. It seems that's been Microsoft's target demographic recently. Not to say that isn't brilliant because it is.

So their strategy is to release a console far too early and release a handheld far too late. That's nice.

Eh, I don't think it's really a "handheld [video game system]". It looks like a small tablet PC to me... it'll probably just run Windows. Which would include games, but probably not specific to that device.

Why is it that I'm the least interested in the portable scene, even though this is the most eventful it's been since the days of the GB/GG/TE/Lynx?

Because you haven't opened yourself up to the greatness of the DS? :P

*UPDATE MARCH 2nd* This is NOT a portable Xbox system...it's pretty much falls under the portable PDA/PC/Labtop genre..

It'll still be a very powerful thing, even if it can only play slightly out of date PC games. :p

I wasn't too big on the handheld scene myself but I've seen the light with the DS because it's all kinds of wonderful.

PORTABLE??
This chunky machine is really just a smaller laptop- you still need a goddamned briefcase to carry it around.
Sure, it has a shitload of features but, bottom line- any 'portable' that doesn't fit in your pocket is a piece of shit.
