I could have gotten an Atari 2600, a NES, a SNES, an X-eye, a PS1, an N64, and a Saturn for $50 (with cords, controllers and a few games), but someone beat me to it.

That is a risk but there is potentially hundreds of dollars worth of stuff on there.

nah, that was a pretty shit deal. Cords/controllers can be the hardest thing to acquire on certain older systems, you would've spent a fortune trying to get those systems in playable condition or ready to sell.

Dreamcast, PSX, the original Game Boy, Game Gear (odds are it wouldn't work, many are near dead from bad capacitors), and Saturn are all near worthless, so you'd basically be spending $75 for a couple semi-rare Atari systems that may not even work. Be glad you missed it, trust me.

If that was the early model 5200, getting a working RF box would have been a real bitch... Well, the other option would be modifying with a separate power port and use a standard RF box instead. (probably the easiest option really)

And 7800s aren't that rare, I think they might be more common than Master Systems in the US. (from figures I've seen it sold over 3 million units in the United States alone, which I found rather surprising given the limited advertizing and small game library outside of 2600 games)

This kind of remids me of an ebay auction for a lot of several HDG model 1 Genesis consoles, a couple model 1 CDs, and a couple 32xs, along with at least one model 2, some other stuff I cant remember (the listing's no longer valid), plus several controlers (some old red 3-buttons, black 3-buttons, 6-buttons, and some 3rd party pads), a bunch of random hookups (several power supplies, RF boxes, assorted av cables, maybe even a 32x mixing cable), all listed for $20-25 BIN plus shipping (~another $15-20 iirc), it sold under 2 hours after the listing went up... (none tested, but still...)
Except that was a much better haul more than likely.

I haven't had much bad luck with old consoles. Ac adapter and Rf switches and av cables are easy enough to get. The controllers are a bit more tricky. I always buy that stuff and have stock pile of it. I could have made a killing off the Jaguar and TG16 alone.

Even if you've got just a loose jaguar, the only thig you have to find are controllers, it uses standard RF out (if one is satisfied with that) and a power adaptor compatible with a Genesis Model 1 (or SCD or SMS) adaptor. Same with the Neo, except I'm not positive about the AC adaptor, but RF is the only thing you get out of that without an add-on. (again, controllers are a bit of an issue, and PC Engine ones are incompatible)

Atari 7800 power adaptors are a bitch to find replacemtns for with the semi-propritary design, controllers are also propritary. (wiring being unique for the 2nd button) 7800s really don't go for much anyway, not much more than common 2600s. (and less than heavy sixers for sure)


Wait, there's a Jaguar CD too! Those sell for a lot on ebay even untested! (again Sega Model1/CD power supplies should be compatible) And from what I've heard on Atari forums, broken CDs are not that hard/expensive to fix. (a lot of th etime read errors are from bad laser allignment or out of place spindle, replacement laser assemblies are not that expensive either -woth the investment, and th eonly other issue might be dissconnected cables internally -maybe what was going on with AVGN's unit)

Getting working controllers for a 5200 can also be a pain, but one other option is to find some broken or untested controllers listed fairly cheap and then buy a refurbishing kit.


Game Gears can also be refurbished without too much trouble as long as it's just the caps, not other stuff like a bad screen. (dead pixels and such)

Yeah he ended up not selling the only thing is that I simply don't have the money right now which really sucks.

just think....you could have missed out on a killer deal.......Someone got jacked off craigslist in my town last week......Got shot by the seller after trying to rip him off.....CL has been tempting many times, but you never know what you are getting in to, even in a public place

We've got a fair bit of funiture off craig's list, but not a whole lot else, an dI haven't been on there often enough to find any really good deals on local video game stuff.
