I really have to give it to Nintendo no this one! It's great! It's really great! No crazy long story or nothing... Just great old school game play! Love it! One of my biggest complaints on Wii for alot of games are, when they tell you how to shake your Wiimote over and over! Just teach us once and let us learn it! Cause if you keep showing us, it's no better than "Press A" on Power Rangers Sega CD! --- But Nintendo must of that about this, anything new about this game where you have to Wii specific movements, it shows you 2 or 3 times, and then never shows you again! It's great! But if you save the game and play it another day, it reminds you how to do it 2 or 3 times, and then no more... Pure Awesomeness! It's simple, but makes a huge difference in game play! And the 4 player mode is great! I can play with my 11 year old and my Girlfriend and her 4 year old, and we all love it!

I really want to play this game. I've heard nothing but good (if not great) things.

My wii died and my mom is getting it repaired to play this. I'll let you know how it plays out when my Wii is no longer a paper weight.

It's very good. A step up from New Super Mario Bros (DS). The single player plays a lot like Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World, which are, of course, the two best 2D Mario games ever made. And there's even a little Yoshi's Island thrown into the mix!(Yoshi's extra effort on jumps, hidden passageways). But instead of playing like a tribute to those games, Nintendo went out of their way to introduce new ideas, and they all work wonderfully.

Had no idea this was out yet. Need to get a new Wii for Mario Galaxy 2 and I guess this as well.

I think a lot of people would find that "2D" qualifier unnecessary ;)

I don't. I think Super Mario Galaxy is a masterpiece :D

Played it and it seems good, though I also enjoyed Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy.

I definitely want to pick up NSMBW. I liked Super Paper Mario, but sadly, I didn't really give Super Mario Galaxy a chance. I got it soon after I heard a quote from someone (I think maybe Miyamoto himself) who related it to Super Mario 64. Now, he might've just said "It's the best Mario since Mario 64," but when I heard Mario 64, I went "Sweet, I get to go exploring big, open worlds!" I got the game, but to my dismay, Super Mario Galaxy is incredibly linear by comparison. It really threw me off, and I don't think I enjoyed the game as much as I should've.

Needless to say, I'll be playing that game again sometime in the future, probably to hype myself up around the time Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out.

Oh, one last thing, about NSMBW: Is the multiplayer fun to co-op, or does it turn into a "dick the other guy over" kinda thing?

I did not care much for New Super Mario Bros for the DS because it played more like the crappy first Super Mario game and less like Super Mario World which was far better in every way. Is this game the same way? Does it have any needless waggle?

As far as the 4-player thing, I've had enough of that in Little Big Planet.

I had the same issue with the DS game. Like I said before, this one plays much more like Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and Yoshi's Island. Plus it has a bunch of new ideas.

As for the waggle... It's there, and it's pretty needless besides certain tilt based platforms. It's not as prevalent as Wario, but it's there due to the fact that there are simply more actions than there are buttons available. I haven't tried the nunchuck-Wiimote combination yet, but I seriously doubt Nintendo took out the waggle.

I'll put it this way, if you were ok with the amount of waggle in Super Mario Galaxy, you'll be ok with this game.

I guess that just depends on who's playing... But it's nice! There are stars and stuff where you couldn't get to it other than having an extra player there. And if they accidentally die, they come back as a bubble you "POP" to let them back in the level... And I guess there are endless continues.. It counts how many continues you have used and not how many are left...

Does it have any needless waggle?
.

What waggle you have to do, makes alot of since, and especially since they only got us down to the 2 button (run/fire and jump) which I personally like, the have very few things that are needed for waggle, but seem very important to the game, and not pointless! It's great! Wish it was online play though!

You think Galaxy is better than SMB3 or World?

I think Galaxy is better than 3, I don't think it's better than World. Here is where everybody reads that statement and goes "WAIT A SEC, YOU THINK WORLD IS BETTER THAN 3?!" Yes I do.

I know I did. You must be outta yo cotton pickin' mind.

Mario 3 is epic to the point I don't know any game will ever top it, easily in my top 5 best games ever and possibly #2 under Mega Man 2.

To each their own. I didn't enjoy Mario Galaxy nearly as much as Mario 64, which I still consider to be the best 3D Mario title. Even still, there's no way to me that 64 even gets close to SMB3, World, or especially Yoshi's Island (which I do consider a Mario title, and the best one, at that).

That said, I'm still eager to play Galaxy 2 whenever it drops! But for me, 2D platformers > 3D platformers any day of the week. Actually, I could probably amend that statement by replacing the "platformers" with just "games."

These past few years, I can't play any Mario games that I once considered 'phenomenal'. The magic is dead to me, the nostalgia is a lie.

SMW is the one I can 'tolerate' playing the longest. It all started when I picked up Mario Sunshine on the cube. Mario's presentation went from being Pre-teen to Pre-school. This is still why I think SMG could have been 'much better' even though the game play was solid.

I'm no 'Nintendo is too kiddie' basher, just someone who would much rather be entertained by 'teenage mutant ninja turtles' instead of 'teletubbies' when it comes to existing franchise expectations.

I wouldn't deny that.

It could have been better too.

I have to admit, although I loved New Super Mario Bros DS, NSMB Wii pretty much blows it out of the water. I was particularly surprised by how incredibly cool and useful the Penguin Suit and Propeller Hat power-ups were, which means they trump virtually every previous Mario power-up since the original fire flower.

Too bad it doesn't have online play! That would of been nice! But definitely fun multiplayer all the same! Not really a good idea if you want to GET anywhere in the game, single player is a must if you wanna beat this game, but multiplayer is great for a good laugh! I didn't like the DS version either, but this game kicks ass, I'm on level 8-3! It getting really difficult now! It's really alot like a GREAT Mario 3 upgrade! Same feel, basically same level style and ideas, but just taken to the Next Level. Pun not intended! I like it when you have the propeller hat and you almost die falling in a whole, and you "instinctively" shake the wiimote, and you fly back up! WOOHOO!

I first played the demo of NSMB Wii at VGXPO and really liked it, when I got it I still liked it but not as much, since I don't really like the story mode. The demo had the free-for-all mode playable, which is still really fun. The level layout in story mode annoys me with the Toad rescuing and all the item houses, it all seems too easy. I wind up with way too many power-ups sometimes, and it seems like I don't even use the ones I had.

Still a really fun game though.

It really depends on who you're playing with. I have friends that like to share the power-ups, and a friend who likes to throw you off cliffs and take all the power-ups and not pop the bubble when you're at the flagpole.

Either way it's still a really fun game.

Too bad it doesn't have online play!

Nintendo really has a stick up their ass about this. To not recognize the want for online play in this day and age is pure ignorance.
