I'm a bit of a FOTNS fan, guilty pleasure of mine, so when I finally got Last Battle I was extremely disappointed...I mean, even on its own, the game is shit. That's why I'm interested in one day getting the MD original.

Anyone own both, or know the differences between the two? Do heads explode and all that good stuff in the Japanese one?

Hokuto no Ken on the Saturn just ain't getting me my fill of face melting awesomeness that I need, either.

I believe heads do explode in the MD one, but haven't tried it out yet. I do know the American version was edited (big surprise there).

Heads do explode in the MD version. As to the other differences, I have no idea.

Well then, super.

Did you guys get any enjoyment out of it? I love stupid stuff like this...

I can't say I'm a big FOTNS fan but I absolutely love the arcade game where you have to punch the panels.

This modifications with the Japanese version with i found it:
- Changing title: Hokuto no Ken is named Last Battle in the western versions
- Changing names: For exemple Kenshiro is renamed Aarzak in the Last Battle
- No exploding heads: The enemies are beaten is flying away with the Aarazak´s attacks.
- Enemie´s colors are altered: For exemple, the man in the coliseum had your skin is normal in Japanese version, but in the Western version the character had your skin changed for green. In the Western version, he looks like the Hulk.

Oh Jesus, what a terrible game Last Battle was. Although it always reminds me of Mystic Defender, which I really enjoyed.

Black Belt is faaaaar better than the Japanese version (Hakuto no Ken) in just about every way, especially in terms of the music.

I didn't know Black Belt was really Fist of the Northstar. Blackbelt was a decently good game and the one on one fights were great.

Is Black Belt the game that was used for the SEGA AGES 2500 series for PS2?

Well the Japanese version, anyway. The US Black Belt is nowhere in the collection in any form. The Japanese Hakuto no Ken (MS version) is playable, though. And the redone version was based on that version, but they changed a TON of stuff.

here are some picks of both black belt and fist of the north star

BLACK BELT

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR (Hokuto no Ken)
http://www.vgmuseum.com/pics2/hokuto-b-4.gif

somethings are diffrent and some things are the same like in both wane you kill some one (non boss) they die the same way allso wane you kill a boss the player kill him like in the fist of the north star movie like with that rapid punch thing allso if you look at both pic the top of the screen is setup the same way

one thing diffrent the levels are set up with diffrent backgrounds

Black Belt also added limited invincibility icons that float across the screens as well as life up icons. Also Black Belt has better music (especially the boss music). Sega of America was up to their old tricks of changing the music even back then, but this time they did it for a good reason, and they had Sega of Japan do the change and not some guy with a mullet.

Now I've got the boss theme stuck in my head.
