I still love this game! And all the new advancements that have been made, make this game beautiful! Well if anyone wants to play some deathmatch... let me know! There are alot of servers out there with nobody playing!

I haven't played Quake in awhile, but I do pick up a game every now and then. I definitely prefer it to Quake 2. I just like the atmosphere and gameplay alot more than Quake 2. I've never played it online, but I might be willing to play a gsme, I'll let you know.

Yeah I like playing the Saturn Port now and then... But wish I had the 3D Saturn Controller for that game alone! Hard to play without that. I'm just so use to using a mouse and looking around! That WiiQuake homebrew is great! Using the wiimote to look around is perfect!

Quake 1 is pretty much the only reason I keep DOSbox on my Laptop. I've been playing it atleast once a week since march. Most of the time, I just play random levels for fun, but sometimes I try to finish the last two levels.

I'm pretty proud of the fact that I practically beat the game on normal without a mouse. I "beat" Quake 1 with a Laptop mouse touch-interface. I probably made the game twice as hard as what it coud've been but atleast I have something I can brag about.

Also, unrelated but awesome, Another great thing about Quake 1 phisical copies are the fact that they don't have CD Keys/Registration processes... God I miss that. When you bought a PC game and it was yours, you didn't have to go through a fucking three ring circus to play a PC game. Then, If it's not bullshit registration issues, it's the DRM mother-fuckery. "Only 2 more installs of this game are permitted", -Cough- SPORE -Cough-

Ah yes, Quake LAN parties and what it meant for traditional PC gaming.

I'm not too fond of the game, and lack of a decent soundtrack is annoying too.

Why are you still using DOSBOX for this game!? There are many unofficial updates that makes this game kick ass even harder! Higher Resolution, Opengl and Directx, Higher res textures!

Yeah me too, i got a nice collection of my favorite adventure games here and it just looks so cool in their big boxes.
sometimes you'd even get a little trinket or 2. (or a nice big map)

I still have Quake and both of its official expansions. I enjoy them more than QII-QIV, thanks to their not being a generic "space marines vs aliens" game like the sequels. It had that aspect to it, but there was a darker edge... a demonic tinge to it that vanished when QII came out.

Sure, QII is a fun game, and QIV was all right (wasn't that fond of QIII), but the first game had an atmosphere that I enjoyed more, on top of the gameplay.

I was looking around on the internet and I just read that John Carmack is working on a Quake port for iPhone.

For some reason I find Doom more enjoyable, maybe it's the music, I'm not sure. I know some don't care for it, but I liked Quake II better in a lot of ways, maybe because it's closer to Unreal in some aspects.

Hey mrbigreddog, is there a certain version of Quake I should have to play online with you? If so, I'll grab a copy and we'll have a game.
