I'm listening to music on my PSP now while I work. Currently, I'm listenting to Ecco - Songs of Time. On this memory card I have:
Architects of Time (by Spencer Nielsen who did the Ecco music)
Christmas Nights
Ecco - Songs of Time
Flashback
Heart of the Alien
Mr. Bones
Sonic CD (JP)
Sonic The Hedgehog Boom
The Amazing Spider Man vs. The Kingpin
Tomb Raider
On a separate memory card I have almost all the Silent Hills games' music. I listen to these collections as much or more than the more mainstream music I have on memory cards. Does anyone else listen to video game music on a regular basis outside of while actually playing the games?
I most certainly do, especially the music from Zero Wing, Gradius, R-Type, Thunder Force, Sonic, Contra, After Burner, Metal Gear(especially the 2D Metal Gears and the original Metal Gear Solid), you name it.

I have a special playlist for video game music on my iPhone. Right now, if you count real music that happens to be on video games (Road Rash and Road Rash 3D), that's most of what I've been listening to at the moment. As far as instrumental music goes, video games ftw.

My iPhone is pretty much filled entirely with game soundtracks. Currently I've been listening to Mega Man remixes. If anyone can point me in the right direction (17days, perhaps?) to some MP3s from the Mega Man Anniversary "Rock" or "Road to X" albums, I'll be your best friend.

I generally prefer videogame music over real music. However, new videogame music is few and far between these days with current games not having much in the way of soundtracks. And when they do, they try to be movie scores. BORING!
Nice thread topic.
I was going to say that I never listen to vg music, as I don't have any CD's of it, or any vg music on my ipod or cell phone.
But then I remembered that from time to time, I put Ecco: The Tides of Time into my Sega CD, blast it, and enjoy the ambient music filling my apartment. Maybe with the headphone jack plugged into my stereo for the very best sound quality.
I've enjoyed listening to PSIV music just playing in the background, and I was excited when I beat the game some months ago and got the subsequent music test. But then just recently, I fired up PSIV only to find all my data gone. The battery I soldered in this summer had apparently lost the connection for a moment. The cartridge must have been jostled too much. My cat must have knocked over my piles of games inside my entertainment unit again, lol.
The real bummer is that even though I had beaten the game, I had never gone back to Rykros, and had Chad enter that one castle alone. At the end, apparently, he fights some enemy who takes on the likeness of the deceased Alys Brangwin, may she rest in peace. I had only read about this fascinating side quest...
I listen game music nearly every day, from morning to evening, and nights too.... I do listen other stuff like Italo Disco and Spacesynth(this is what good game music is inspired of :P) but music from games or music made with a game console is what fills my room the most.

You're awesome  My favourite group is the now-defunct Koto.. Anfrando Maiola is just ace!

As for game music I do listen to tons of it, thanks to vgmstream and its assorted plugins. Big-name musicians have hurt the uniqueness of game music more than anything else for the past three decades.
I'm a big LaserDance fan (Michiel van der Kuy FTW) but Koto is still amongst my biiiiig favs :)

Well...
- I occasionally throw in "Chuck Rock" just to listen to its main theme...
- I got the theme to "Rick Dangerous" as my cellphone-ringtone...
- and I highly enjoy the "Turrican" OST-CD (Chris Hülsbeck is a great videogame composer)
by the way, I also love the Orchestrated Hülsbeck renditions (like the symphonic version of the "Great Giana Sisters" main theme):

I do. I have separate playlists on my ipod. I've got my Genesis playlist which has music from various Sonic games, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, Afterburner, and others.
I have a Final Fantasy playlist with songs mostly from FFXI. That game has some incredible music. I also have some from FF7 (best boss song), FF9 (best random battle song), and FFX.
Halo Playlist - Marty O'donnell did a hell of an amazing job...
Hell, every night I fall asleep to videogame music. Some of the Halo songs are very relaxing and put me to sleep. FFXI has some great music to fall asleep to as well.

I used to listen to video game music a lot, up to a few years back. Just to name a few in no particular order, I listened to soundtracks from Final Fantasy, Rez, Unreal Tournament, Tribes 2, Tekken, Rocket Arena 3, hell even Katamari Damacy.
Nowadays I've shifted more towards "real" music, after (re)discovering a bunch of bands I like. But every now and then, I still like to put on a couple of good instrumental tunes from my assorted list of games.

You could just download it from youtube using a website like youtubemp4.com or something.
And I keep lots of game music on my PSP. Mostly the more orchestrated stuff, or Bemani tracks. Also some chiptunes, like Castle Shikigami BGM.

I play a cd in my car consisting only of vg music- mostly instrumentals. Lyrics are overrated.

I probably listen to game music more than real music. I always put on tracks from jap/euro Sonic CD when I study. I listen to a lot of Gradius music, mega man, castlevania, actraiser, etc.

I do, but I've yet to fully "get into it". The only game-related music on my mp3 player is from soundtracks that I own on CD, and the ones that I have tend to be not so "videogamey" sounding. Strangely, I have some music by chiptune artists, and I consider myself a fan of that stuff, but I don't have any actual chiptunes culled from games. There are some that I would listen to, I've just never gotten around to it.

Everything 'game' and 'normal' just gets mixed into one big playlist for everything tagged <3 in Zune. Everything I'm comfy listening to in public gets on the list, everything else I can just fire up by itself anyway.

I listen to video game music almost exclusively. I have a 30GB zune full of chiptune music, most of it i ripped myself. Just recently i downloaded the soundtrack of the PC Genjin (Bonks adventure) ps2 remake and ripped some songs from Avenging Spirit via Mame.

It's funny you said that, as just the other day I was thinking the same exact thing about Tangerine Dream. Gotta love the synth-laden fantasy stuff, especially TD's work on Legend.
Vay was a classic, and I probably tossed the CD in my CD player just as often as my Sega CD. Gotta love Red Book audio.
