I got the 6-pak from my friend Matt, he bought it with box and game. which is awesome.
but, although I have not tried it on my genesis, as I'm not home ATM. I cant get it to work on my RetroGen (or streets of rage 2) but, I looked at the PCb and it looks like some connectors are missing on one side? I've never payed much attention to any other games, but I was wondering if that could be the cause. any help would be welcome!

There are carts that don't have all pins. They should still work on the original hardware.

have you cleaned your carts? I've heard the clone portables tend to be more sensitive to dirty carts than original hardware, especially if you have a beast grip Model 1 Genesis (i could probably pick up the system by the cartridge).

I know this question is directed at another user but my copy of the Genesis 6-Pak doesn't have all of the pins either. It means that it is a Majesco re-release cart. It should work fine with all genesis systems. Have you tested it on a normal genesis or only on the Retrogen?

Mine is missing a bunch of pins too. Works just fine on both my Model 1 and 2 Genesis and through a 32X.

Oh yeah, that's definitely a Majesco re-print. Their "SEGA" logo is kinda odd & thick, and to save costs the text on the label is mostly monochrome.

Wait, does this mean my Mortal Kombat 3 is a re-print too? It's missing a bunch of pins too. No wonder there's only one chip inside the cartridge. I was like "WTF? This is 32Meg?".

Pic of your MK3 cart? I've seen pics of a Genesis MK3 box with that telltale "thick" Sega logo. Regardless of how it looks, your copy functions the same as a first-run MK3 cart.
I think that, towards the end of the Genesis' life, Majesco took over manufacturing some of Sega's games, under the guise of Sega themselves. The last batch of new first-party Genesis games (Sonic 3D Blast, Vectorman 2, Virtua Fighter 2, and Sonic Classics 3 In 1 I think) released in late 1996-early 1997 definitely came from Sega, but subsequent printings of 3D Blast, Vectorman 2 and Sonic Classics and other first-party games (like "6-Pak") were definitely from Majesco. The late 1997 "Mega Hit Series" (is there a list of all of the games that were released under that line, and has anyone collected them all?), although promoted by Sega were manufactured by Majesco.
Tell-tale signs of a Majesco re-release is the thick Sega logo in that picture (Sega manufactured carts had a thin white layer around the logo, or sometimes none at all), the lack of pins, the washed-out, cheap cart labels/art and well, in the back cover of most of their releases it mentions that said game was distributed/manufactured by Majesco.
It was said that, in the mid-to-late 1990's, both Sega & Acclaim overproduced Genesis cartridges, and were stuck with a glut of them which they weren't able to sell. Majesco probably re-purposed all of these carts, erased and re-wrote the ROMS, stripped (or in some cases re-labeled on top) them of their labels and used them for their many late '90's re-releases. Many of their carts , as some of you may have noticed, have a covered-up Acclaim logo in the back. Acclaim and EA were the only third-parties which produced their own Genesis cartridges. In the case of EA, they were noticeably different from your average Genesis cart.

My MK3 box doesn't have the SEGA logo on it anywhere. Only in text.
Also, the box and cart say "Assembled in Mexico". Sounds like Majesco to me mmhmm.

My 6-pak is missing pins and the cart itself is shaped weird. It doesn't fit in my model 2 right. You have to force it in.

your game cart looks just how my MK3 cart was when I bought the game in 1995. the label unsticking from the top, I placed a piece of clear tape over it. :)

My MK3 cart (bought in January 1996) also suffered from an unsticking label, that I eventually lost because the damn thing wouldn't stay on!!! There's a story about how some punk friend of my cousins almost made off with my (then)-pricy copy of MK3 by switching its label with that of a "WWF Super Wrestlemania" cart that I've told numerous times here.
My first copy of MK1 also eventually lost its label.
Acclaim, as I mentioned manufactured its own Genesis carts down in Mexico. That includes their earlier subsidiaries Arena & Flying Edge. I think they manufactured carts for other companies as well, such as Williams/Midway for MK3 & UMK3.
Either Majesco took over Acclaim's manufacturing plants in Mexico after Acclaim ceased making 16-Bit games, or they repurposed all of Acclaim's unsold cartridges.......could be both.
As far as the "fat" Sega logo goes, I guess that it isn't always a clear indicator of whether a game's a Majesco re-print or not. Eternal Champions & VR Troopers were definitely not re-printed.
