I'll be heading back home soon and I'm definitely going to pick up some more games. The store I go to had a 32X (for less than $20), Chaotix, the two virtua games, and some others the last time I was there. Should I get it? I figured I'd get a 32X before the SCD because the owner is charging $40-50 for a model 2 and $80 for a model 1. I've looked through the 32X library and there's about 11 or 12 games I'd want.

It's worth it.

Sega CD is worth it too...but IMHO $30 is fair for Sega CD.

Good deal. You can buy a SCD off of craigslist for about 20 dolalrs.

Oh, of course it's worth getting. It's worth playing, too! But, once the aura wears off, it'll become a dust paradise.

to true! mines just collecting dust as we speak :( although they are worth having in the UK at the moment as the prices of games and units has been on the rise for some time and i was lucky enough to get most of the good games complete before this happened so i can make a tidy profit on it if i wanted to...

must play it more! After Burner complete is awesome on it! FACT! :D

I LOVE the 32X. Haters can suck it. I even like the games that EVERYONE hates for it like Cosmic Carnage.

Knuckles Chaotix may well be my favorite Sonic game, I can play it for hours. The trick is to play as Mighty the Armadillo as he is essentially Sonic. Don't forget you can pick up your companion with B and just run like a normal Sonic game and you can also wall jump Mega Man X style as well (well, more like New Super Mario Bros Wii style).

I know, right??!!! I played one a few times and have one here but no CABLE for it :( Trying to make my own for my Model 1 Genesis. As soon as I get the pinout I will.

And I like carts better than CD's, they're just more durable. Hard to make, but much more durable. And great to collect.

32-X is awesome. A system that was let go of way too early. I still wonder what they could have wrung out of it. It's worth it man, totally.:daze:

With cartridges you still have to worry about corrosion, sometimes "bit rot" (much more of a problem with pirate/homebrew games using E/PROMs), then there's also the possibility of damage from electric shock. (power surge in the console -fried 2 VCS games and the console with a bad PSU; or static electricity)

Would you rather play Cosmic Carnage, or Brutal??

32X is definitely getting. I also love Chaotix, my favorite Sonic game as well. I only wish it had lives and more enemies, then it'd be really awesome.

The others here are right though, once the novelty wears off, you won't get as much use out of it.

Some of my favorite games:

Star Wars Arcade
Knuckles Chaotix
Space Harrier
After Burner
NBA Jam T.E

And there's also Tempo, Kolibri, Virtua Racing.

Also MK2 if you want to learn competitive play and don't have a PS3/360/PS2/Xbox

Personally I love Tempo, Kolibri, SWA, and the improved Sega CD ports (Night Trap, Corpse Killer, and Fahrenheit...don't bother with the other two, STAY AWAY from the other two) they will keep the novelty alive for a while.

As a kid, when I didn't have a decked out source port, 32X Doom was also awesome.

I haven't touched Blackthorne yet though.
That's on my list though.

Ah, Black Thorne! Amazing game, and that's all I can say about that.

what do you use to make your own cable? can you buy the plugs somewhere or do you have to harvest them from RF adapters? I know it's just a matter of connecting wires to the plugs, but I don't know where to get the stock materials to do it. Also, is it bad to connect all of the pins? would that cause problems?

I'd like to know this too. I'd try making one if I could get the parts. I have some RF switches with all the 9 pins but I don't really have any good cable material or the DIN plug.

Also, don't connect the 5VDC line. Otherwise you can't turn off your Genesis with the 32X installed.

it depends on how hard core of a sega fan you are, i would recommend getting a sega cd first to check out its library because the 32x has even less of a game library it also has the problem of frezing up every now and again but after you spent a good time using it the freezing happens a lot less often, and it does die down the video quality output of your 16 bit games as well but it takes about half an hour of side-by-side comparing to tell and you have to figure with a total of 40 32x games from all over the world is it worth it? for the average sega fan probably not and the biggest pain of all is the fact that if you own virtua racing for the genesis it will not work on the 32x AT ALL so be prepared to buy the 32x version (virtua racing delux) and some people say it costs a fortune but i got mine i got mine for 80 bucks mint condition on amazon.
