So as I stated before, I received my modified Genesis 3 and one of the mods was Crystal Clear Stereo sound. The Genesis 3 originally had mono sound, so this is a big upgrade and now, let's compare the same tunes with my Genesis 2 and try to guess which system played what:

Your model 3 sounds perfect, but I am actually surprised that your model 2 does sound as acceptable as it does. The ones I experienced didn't sound anywhere near as good.

Maybe the recording improved the sound because from what I've read, I got the cheapo 2nd model.

As for Round 2, well I've done this before the modding.

That MD2 sounds pretty good compared to what I have around, which sound far worse

Hmm, the first one also sounds like stereo, with the second being mono.
And yeah, the Model 2 sounds fairly decent, better than soem others or MN12bird's VA7.

That and Comix zone has fairly good music for being GEMS. (EWJ/2 still is shockingly good for GEMS though)

To those who guessed it, the "a" versions were indeed my modded Gen3 while the shitty "b" versions were the Gen2.

"A" tracks sound really nice, almost as good as KEGA. its missing a little high end but thats just typical of MP3s and line-out recording.

And the Bs were recorded in mono? (don't you have a stereo genesis II AV cable?)

I was using stereo AV cables and using the same MP3 settings as with the "A" recordings.

Hey, it's better than some VA-7 M1s and VA0/1.x consoles though, it's poor, but at least tolerable and with less distorsion than some.
