Doesn't look so hot...
I've got video and will have a complete preview of this in the next week or two. It's not often we get to preview a new Sega CD game!

Are you sure it's not called Burning Eyeballs? Those are some extremely American graphics, there.

Definitely looks Japanese to me, and it doesn't look THAT bad.
EDIT: http://www.eidolons-inn.net/segabase/CD-BurningFists.html
Apparently, it was done at Sega of Japan.

I usually just assume anything with bad graphics was programmed in the US. I assume anything with poor gameplay was programmed in Europe. It's just how I am... I'm pretty shortsighted.
Anyway I'll wait and see what it looks like in motion. Music is also key (bad music usually means American game).
*Kidding of course.*

As much as I hate the collector Adol (not the dude from Y's...) (:P Joe) I have to give him SOME credit for sharing this, even though it might have costed GDG a lot of damn money.
But damn, it's cool none the less. I think the game looks pretty hip.

Although it doesn't look that great I fully support the idea of releasing new games for classic systems. Screw the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox, I play my classic systems much more than them.
And new games would be nice. Encourage the move and we may start getting awesome shit.
I look at it this way: every game we get means GDG and others become more and more familiar with the console. This could lead to a 100% original and new title sometime in the future.
Besides, there's a ton of historical significance in these releases. :)

That chu chu rocket clone wasn't?
Might Mighty Missile is what that's called. While I've never played it, isn't it practically a port of Chu Chu Rocket? I didn't notice anything, at all, that would distinguish it from Chu Chu.

I have some of their other games, Bug Blasters and Star Strike, and they all come with full color front, back and insert along with a basic manual for the game (all in a small cd jewel case). The discs even have full color art so it looks pretty professional.

It's a fighting game and I want a manual with the game is it might have move lists or whatnot. :)
Look for a full preview of this new release this Friday!

That'll make friday worth looking forward to, as friday is my least favorite day of the week. *sigh*
Two articles will go up on Friday, since each is a bit short. The BF preview will be accompanied by the Valis article.

Why was everyone talking about Beggar Prince (basically a translated version of a preexisting game) when there was an all-new fighter in the pipeline? I've heard nothing about this.
David J.
03-21-2006, 08:34 PM
Well, it was not announced so no one knew about it!
However... this was a unreleased game from Sega of Japan that had a few issues (final boss wasn't completed, no AI and framerate problems with cutscenes), and just recently is was annouced. Melf mentioned it in a post a while back, I sent an email to GDG, they confirmed it, then the next day I found screenshots on some french site, and here we are!

Does Mighty Mighty Missle have the same music from Chu Chu? I really liked the Chu Chu soundtrack and hope it's the same for Missle...

MMM looks like it's just a homebrew port of Chu Chu Rocket. I think it is pretty much the same, just a different title screen.

Bug Blasters and Star Strike were GDG's first two releases. I don't think their packaging is indicative of their more recent releases, which I believe do come in a DVD case. Not sure about the manual, but I would surmise that it at least has one.

There's something fishy about that J2 games place. I don't trust them. I don't know why. Probably because I'd rather inspect the merchandise myself on used games and I don't like taking their word for the condition of the product. They'll always make them sound better than they are so they can sell them. They need to have pictures and scans of the boxes, manuals and carts before I will trust them, along with far more detailed descriptions.

I tried ordering games from that J2 place and the shipping was smething like $6.02 for 4 games. I decided to remove one of the games from my cart, and the shipping went up to over $7 even though I was ordering less! So of course I didn't follow through with my order after seeing that. Definitely something fishy about that place. I bet if I ordered one game, shipping would be $10. Avoid J2 games.

"For all you interested in our latest release (and for those who have pre-ordered)
Burning Fists: Force Striker is set to ship Wednesday, April 12th!
We had a slight delay due to a late arrival from the printers of our artwork, but we managed to have a bunch of copies available for this past weekends CinciClassic Game Show!
We've loved the feedback so far, and as our copies go out, we'd love to hear from everyone!
Let us know as we're in the planning stages for more new titles!"
Damn, now I'm getting it next week maybe... hopefully saturday at the earilest!

I'm not impressed, but I was excited because I thought it was cool to see a canned game come out in some form or another. As for the suckiness, The AI is awful, there are glitches ahoy and just ugh.
Thankfully I didn't pay a cent for it in the end. My mom got it for me as a gift, so I do own it.
I'd write a review, but I can't muster up the balls to slam this game.

how is the packageing case, book, and insert
David J.
04-15-2006, 08:25 PM
The disc art and packaging art you see on GoodDealGames is the same as what you get. For a manual you get a dual sided insert that gives some sort of a plot, lists: selectable locations, characters, opetions and on the back, explains some moves. I really doubt there are dozens of hidden moves.
The packaging is better than the real game.

Is it so wrong I get a devilish sort of glee from this information?
So, let's recap. After buying an unfinished prototype of this game from Adol (?), GoodDealGames get someone (hired monkey using online documentation of the Mega CD's innards, no doubt) to 'finish' the game to a playable level. After half-heartedly putting together a CD case cover/insert in Photoshop, they then burn the end product onto 200 CD-Rs with a fancy CD label. They then offer this for $35, £20-ish in my money.
This isn't GoodDealGames, it's BargainBasementSoftware. Seriously, that could be a one-man operation (and probably is, given how long it's been delayed since its announcement).
So is the insert in colour? Have fancy diagrams? Appear a professional effort? Is the game region-free? Most importantly, is it worth it?

most of the games gooddealgames sell you can get for $5 more the PAL region so i dont think the game is region free
David J.

But the PAL presses are out of print. GDG only made five PAL copies.
It isn't worth it. It's still very buggy. I was playing a match and my character got stuck in the middle of the screen. I'm going to scan the color insert. Had they took more time to really work on the game and fix the glitches I wouldn't complain.

So I played through it some more. There is no final boss. They said it wasn't completed, so you just fight all of the selectable characters, then you are greeted to a FMV in Japanese with the final boss, and then you go back to the title screen. Pretty tense stuff.
That was out of their control, sadly. Everything else could have been fixed, or treated a little better. In the goodies folder there is a text file called "notes.txt" and here's what it says:
Game partialy "completed" by Fonzie Voltonov on october 2005... Sega rule...
Important note:
No game code was hacked... Only data file hacking was peformed in order to:
-Remove misunderstoodable things in main menu
-Add publisher logos
-Increase game difficulty <<< Canned
-Allow game to be finished
I rather would have seen it fully completed, not half-way.

But then it won't be collectible, silly. That wouldn't justify charging $35 for a game anyone can own.

Is it really a CD-R?
Yes, looks very much like one with a color cd label applied to the disc.
One interesting thing to note is do NOT have your CD Backup RAM cart installed when you try to play this game...the game will freeze every time. When I took the RAM cart out it worked, at least for a while before it glitched again!
To its defense, however, I do like the 3rd round "intensified battle" music...makes that last round seem much more dramatic.
But then it won't be collectible, silly. That wouldn't justify charging $35 for a game anyone can own.
And was the BF:FS prototype Adol's to sell, anyway? Just askin', is all
I'm still unclear about this. He said he paid $1500 for it, but the thread on the Atari Age forums I linked to in the preview stated that he only paid $50 for it.
I wonder what Sega's opinion on all of this is. Not that I'm out to sabatoge anyone, but if they were to take a stance on this, it would set a precedent about all future beta leakings and could finally eliminate all doubt about the legality of completing and selling unreleased games.
I know this happens all the time with Atari and ColecoVision games, but has the same thing ever happened with Nintendo games? I know of Star Fox 2, but that was never comercially released.

Hi,
"hired monkey using online documentation of the Mega CD's innards, no doubt"
Probably ;) But online documentation wont help :).
Some damn effort was made to record all the hidden FMVs... I think its a bit better than the RAW beta disc.
I'm not really fond of the GDG methods... If the disc were really pressed + offset printed, this could have been wonderfull... With CDR's, its a full crap.
But, we need to keep in mind that GDG is buying prototypes, burning , printing and shipping... Very hard work, maybe hi benefits per copy but low sales for sure.
------------------
I just want to say that it's actualy possible to code games like street of rage, mortal kombat... with ease... The only dramatic point is the lack of GFX and sound and level design... That's why there is so few creation atm.

Np ;)
"allso why didnt they just put the extra videos in goodies folder in to the game"
I didn't put the goodies into a folder because the game read manualy the disc-file-system (each game has a different method, some games by file name, some game by file number and some even do not care about :P), and folders uses special codes that aren't handled by the engine and make it crash when searching for some files.
I also added goodies in MMMissile, btw ;) For the curious ppl, héhé

I'm the one behind all the two lastest GDG releases,
I hope its friendly :)
First of all... I always worked for free (i mean, not direct money) for those kind of hacking or game porting.
Just ask.
Really, and why do you hate me so much, David J.?
Will you provide an unreleased game like me to the whole community?
Where are you getting the hate from? All he did was express his opinions of the game itself. Whether it's good or bad doesn't reflect on you.
His post where he says i'm a PRICK isn't clear enough for you?
The only post he even mentions you in is the first one, where he mentions you deserve some credit for letting it get published. Where exactly, did he call you a prick?
Sorry, wrong topic,he didn't mention it here but in another topic:
http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297&page=5
Make a search for "adol",and you'll find it.
Now,what are you going to say?
I say don't take the internet so seriously and develop a thicker skin. ;)
I'm not going to scan the internet for each and every insult against you. Seriously, it's just words on a screen. What does it matter?
Now, this topic has been derailed enough. Any further issues with David should be taken up with him via PM.
