I could snap my copy of Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game (32X) as well. It's also a Majesco re-release.

Oh yeah, the label on NFL Quarterback Club is unusually bad. It looks like it has "Actiplaque" all over it. Not just on the 32X banner.

I see nothing in that picture that says "Majesco".

I thought it was established in another topic that missing pins = Majesco re-release.

The label is also a little too small for the mold, not to mention being of horrible quality. The label also says it's assembled in Mexico.

Well, think about it. Why would Majesco re-release 32X games that had stacked up on shelves, been tossed in closeout bins and STILL not sold?

I have a boxed copy of the game and it doesn't say Majesco ANYWHERE. The publisher's/producer's name, Acclaim, is all over it however..... Additionally, Majesco predominently used cheap cardboard boxes and this is one of the few 32X games that came in a plastic clamshell case.

That game is an original by Acclaim. Acclaim used PCBs with pins missing on the front as well. They sold excess PCBs and cartridge casings to Majesco, Accolade/Ballistic, and Midway between 1996 and 1998 for their own free use. Any games specifically produced by Acclaim were never reprinted.

Yep, I was just going to say all my Acclaim and Midway Genesis cartridges have missing pins and I know I bought them new and near release date.

Hmm, didn't realize most Acclaim games have missing pins in fact. Thanks for clearing up my confusion guys. :)

I bought plenty of first-run Genesis and 32X games with missing pins. It doesn't mean anything other than an optimized manufacturing process.

This.

Acclaim, along with EA & Accolade, were the only companies other than Sega which manufactured their own cartridges. Both Sega & Acclaim reportedly suffered huge losses in the mid-1990's, due to tons of unsold games in their warehouses. A lot of which may have been repurposed by Majesco for their many re-releases (hence the shoddily covered-up Acclaim logos in the back of many of their carts).

Still, I chuckle at the thought of 32X re-releases, for a console which barely lasted a year on the market. Then again, a "Knuckles Chaotix" re-print would've sure been nice, much more than those dirt common 32X games (i.e "Cosmic Carnage") you find everywhere.

New "Primal Rage" sealed, $10........

So why are some pins missing? Are those the pins that, if there, make the graphics and sound better? Obviously no Western programmed games would need those pins.

Those pins are processor control signals which are useless for things that aren't having extra CPUs in them and the like.

Well this statement isn't 100% correct.

Other publishers to add to this list:

- Konami (used the same "sega type" cartridge mold but Konami is engraved on the back. The IC's and circuit board inside say Konami and have the date when the ROM was flashed/produced)

- Capcom (back of cartridges have Capcom engraved, as does the clam shell case)

- Namco (back of cartridges have Namco engraved, as does the clam shell case)

- Taito (Japanese releases only, had a distinct cartridge mold and manufactured it's own clamshell)

- Sunsoft (Japanese releases only, distinct cartridge mold also some releases had the tiny box)

There maybe others but that is all I can think of at the moment.

Codemasters, anyone?

Of the two Konami carts I've disassembled, neither were marked with a four digit date code. Have you actually seen any marked with a date code, or were you just assuming they all were?

sure would be nice if Majesco did re-release the add-ons to the Genesis, but it probably would only be compatible with the Genesis 3 :D
