Seriously? I think we are a bunch of loose cannons. All we ever talk about is beards, bitches, Raul Julia and Sega.
But I agree. This site it the best. I don't think any other console has a single website where you can learn basically everything and talk shop with good, knowledgeable people.

This and Digital Press are the best ones for gaming and talking shop. DP has Garry Shandling and random noobs, this has Raul Julia and William Shatner. Both are equally great. This is undeniable.

special thanks to whoever put in all the hard work to get this site up and running and to whoever keeps it maintained much appreciated! the sega genesis is my primary gaming console and stays hooked up to my living room tv absorbing most of my gaming time all my other consoles rotate from bedroom tv to smokehouse tv to closet to the storage like musical chairs so this is the most relevant video game site for me

Yeah, a lot of forums are ready to fucking drive out new members with torches and pitchforks.
Although I do really like DP, I really don't think the community is as good or as technical smart as the one here, there are a lot more assholes and trolls really there. It is a great site for information though.

I don't speak of Raul Julia, for no man is above me. A woman on the other hand, can be above me all she wants. And by above, I mean on top straddling me like a horse she's trying to break.
As for this site, it has it's moments of bitching, pissing and moaning... half the time about things that normal people outside of a padded cell wouldn't be bitching, pissing and moaning about. But what site doesn't? Truthfully, it's the sites without such bickering that you need to be wary of. But I digress a bit...
Sega 16's a good place to swing by daily and see what's up among fellow Sega fans. Nice articles to read and take part in, and discussions that you're never quite sure where they're going to end up. I honestly didn't plan on being around here very long when I first signed up, but it's been a fun seven months so far.

The term you are looking for is "more focused". This is more knowledgable because there is really only one system and its add-ons to worry about.
DP has systems from everyone from every era that they have to worry about.
And there are more trolls and assholes, but most of the time they are friggin hilarious.

Well, Rusty's post just pushed this thread into the second page, and I can't be bothered to go back and read the first few posts. By the thread's title, however, I think it's safe to assume that this is another Sega-16-worshipping topic.
I normally don't post in these things, but I should say that this place really is great. I've been on this site for about a year and a half now, and I've come to regard many of you guys as friends (even though you're not even "real"). We may not actually talk all that much, nor would we know each other on the street, but in the context of this small, intimate community, I consider my life better for the weird friendships I've made here.
The rest of you, on the other hand, I can barely tolerate. You know who you are.

In the dramatic retelling of that event, I wish the author had gone with his instinct and given Joe's weapon a different name. I like Banhammer because it sounds like Foehammer, but everyone uses it.

Well, there are some funny trolls, and then there are some that are just plain dicks, that really ruin it for me at Digital Press. There seems to be a lot of assholes there, maybe it's just me. They're ready to fucking crucify anyone there who asks simple questions and whatnot, here everyone seems to be pretty accepting of opinions and generally friendly. Sure we get a troll or two, but even still they don't make anyone feel unwelcome.
That's why I love it here, everyone's friendly and nice and informative. At Digital Press there are nice people, but there are a lot of people there that just ruin the community.

This forum along with sega8bit forum and segasaturn.co.uk forum are the best fora out there for the respective systems. This forum could do with a few more sub-fora though in my opinion. I wish I could find a good classic game boy forum which discusses only the original black and white games though.

I do love this place. The people here are profoundly passionate about the Genny and it's contemporaries. That's exactly what I was looking for and, thus, I found a new home in this site. Thank you, sega-16!!! :D
I wasn't going to post in this thread before. We all know the old saying after all: "Praise is poison."
So anyways I thought I'd mention that I've very much enjoyed reading through all of the reviews and features, and chatting in the forums. Even though I'm relatively new to the forums, I spent a couple years before that reading through all the reviews and features. So I've gotten a good few yrs of enjoyment from this site. Not to mention this site has helped my Genesis / Sega CD collection become massive and AWESOME.
I sometimes participate in a couple other forums and it's really true when people mention that the Sega-16 forums are relatively mature and respectful.
Some forums have thousands of members including huge #'s of trolls ready to blow up anything they can, while shooting out neg rep at strangers...
At least around here, when someone goes on a troll rampage, it's usually limited to that single troll... Be thankful there aren't DOZENS of trolls looking to jump into a hissy fit at the same time, like SOME forums... LOL
And I won't go into details (and please believe me that I'm NOT homophobic), but if you've never seen a few dozen very flamboyant trolls trying to tear someone apart who posted a legitimate thread starter... Let's just say it's a unique experience. LOL!!!

Other than that, my opinion still hasn't changed since post 1 in this topic. There's so much right on this site and it's little community. Long live Sega-16! :D :ok:

What I think is great is that we all enjoy playing Sega (I don't really ever call it Genesis) in different ways.
I might be the only one (or one of a few people) who plays sports games like nobody's business. Yet, there are people on here who love to mod Sega's and find good ones from bad ones. I don't care one bit about that! Give me a six pack of some brews, my buds and NHL 96 and we're set forever.
But I take great pride in being the guy to go to when it comes to sports games on this site.

I do love this place as well, mostly because (as other members said) everybody's friendly with new members, instead of treating them like shit since the very first post, and it's the only forum in which I'm really interested, because everybody here cares about Sega's greatest system and its add-ons, unlike many people these days that think everything Nintendo shat out is gold and that Sega sucks. But, most importantly, everything that happens in the forum is awesome, or should I say, jawusum, like the cults, Burning Fight (except for the recent stuff that happened in that thread), Flacko's Drawings, the derailed Shatocalypse from dragonboy's leaving thread and many more things.

I don't remember how long I've been coming to this site (3-4 months?) and I'm not really sure how I found it, but once I started really digging in I knew I found somewhere I would be spending a lot of time at.
I only registered about a month ago and have already posted 2 reviews. I have had several questions answered in the forums where I have always been treated fairly. Where else can you do that?
However, I hate being in the dark. I can see there is a lot of history in these forums and with the current and former members. I'm obviously going to have to read the Burning Fight thread. Can any long time members recommend some other threads where I can do some remedial reading?

Seconded! I'm pretty tech savvy myself, but I am but an apprentice while this site has many masters :D
By the way, do you realize that we may have started a mini-revolution of RGB gaming in the states? Every retro forum has a section where people talk about using RGB-YUV transcoders now, but Sega-16 did it years before anyone else.

I don't claim to know lots of the technical stuff, but I love learning more about it. :)
On the subject of RGB awareness, I think the NEO-GEO scene did it even earlier than Sega-16 did. Only difference is Sega-16 is more public and newbie friendly than anything that has come from the Neo ever since the collector's picked up on it back in the 90s.

I'm glad there is a community dedicated to the Genesis/CD/32X. Before finding Sega-16, I never found communities with people that appreciated Sega's 16-bitter at all. I was surrounded by Nintendo fans so I would get kinda chewed at. Not saying that I hate Nintendo, I just don't like particular fan groups. I actually found out about Sega-16 a couple years ago but didn't register until this year. Why? Don't ask me. I would just read the features, reviews, and browse the forum. Perhaps I should have registered earlier but better later than never.
