Just bought a new Genesis. Real or fake?

Got it off ebay. From Thailand. Seller has 99.8% positive feedback.

Both controller and console feel lighter and of poorer build quality but it could be my mind playing tricks on me.

If someone knowledgeable enough could shed some light on the subject. Here are some pics:

P.S. Don't forget this is a new console. Supposedly been in a warehouse for 11 or so years.

I'd be wary of it - for an Asian/Japanese system box, it has decidedly little kana, etc. on it.

it's asian pal md. I have exactly the same console. looks legit to me, but I'm no expert. afaik, clones mostly didn't have metallic round opening at the bottom(it was plastic, or none at all).

I'm not an expert, but I agree with madmonkey. They've gone to a lot of trouble making it look legit if it's a fake.

Could well be one of those unauthorised clones. But those chips on the board look like the "Real Deal".

It's an authentic VA0 Asian PAL MegaDrive 2. There is no way in hell this could be a fake with Sega chips on the motherboard.

Looks real enough to me. Pirates wouldn't bother printing the chips like that.
