I hope you can play as Mortal Kombat Characters in this one! (left out of the home version of the Tournament Edition) I doubt it though...

all while delivering a fresh take on the franchise.
No dammit, No!!
Give us a perfect recreation of the NBA Jam engine but with 3D characters and the ability to make and store our own characters/teams,
thats all i want, I don't want your "fresh take" because most likely it means you'll change the gameplay! http://www.sega-16.com/forum/images/icons/mad.gif

ahem, Showtime: NBA on NBC.
The REAL sequels to NBA JAM were NBA JAM TE, NBA HangTime, NBA Hoopz, and then Showtime: NBA on NBC. The rest of the sequels with the NBA JAM name were sequels in name only (literally) because Midway lost/sold the NBA JAM name to Acclaim. The sequels I just listed are Midway games and stay true to the original formula and only serve to improve it graphically and smooth out the gameplay.

Hopefully they'll put more effort into it than Capcom put into MM9.

Acclaim already attempted a 3D remake of "NBA Jam" back in 2003/2004, after the success of EA's "NBA Street" series. I think a lot of people forgot about that, even though it wasn't from the original developers (Midway), but it played similar to Midway's Jam games.

Doesn't matter, it's still a sham. It's like if EA made a Street Fighter game, I'd still be playing Back Alley Brawlers Turbo by Capcom (get it? alternate name for same game series by same developer, ah, whatever).

Mark Turmell (the original nba jam guy) is actually involved in this new one which gives me a glimmer of hope.

I'm not going to hold my breath... since EA ran the NBA Street Series into the ground (have all of the games.. 2 is still the pinnical of the series)..
But With Mark on board there may be hope..... (was he even involved with NBA JAM Extreme? Tha game was donkey crap)
And that picture... look very NBA Jamish.. I'm hoping the gam play is closer to NBA Hangtime.. then the origan l Jam or TE.. (Hangtime included: Spin Moves, Double Dunks, Double fire, good create a player)
But i still not a fan of EA...

Oh, that got a chuckle out of me. Best thing for sure. I guess no one showed him this?: http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3668922
Also, I'm fucking psyched for this game for sure. If it plays just like and somewhat looks like NBA Jam (like that picture), it will BE ON FIRE!
Mark Turmell involved? OH MYYYYYYYYYY!
But...
Is it the shoes?

MK characters? Pfft! It's a wii exclusive; I'm betting hidden characters include Waluigi and Birdo :p

Still very psyched for this game. Over at the EA site they're now holding voting for the people in the game:

I hope that you can play as Matthew Perry like in NBA HangTime
Here is a pic of it (sorry for the awful quality. EDIT: Nevermind, here's a better looking pic)
http://www.sega-16.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=99&pictureid=823
And related to it, whoever put that code on GameFAQs actually named him as Joe Perry instead of Matthew Perry. Aerosmith got into his mind?
Whoever wants to play as him, here is the code:
Insert PERRY as his name and 3500 as his pin number (NOTE: Works only in the arcade and PS1 versions, and maybe the N64 one as well)
