I have a friend that built his own MAME cabinet. It' really does look the dog's bollocks. He's printed a livery on the sides & everything. Cost him about £800 to make. He's so good at it he builds them & sells them for about £2500 each, without the roms of course. He has an X-Arcade built into it & a track ball to navigate the menus. I'd go with X-Arcade because it's virtualy indestructable like the old Competition Pro 5000 joysticks for the Commodore64 & ZX Spectrum.

X-Arcade makes incredibly good products. Prepare to spend, though.
