I was wondering if anyone has ever tried or if it is possible to replace the stick and buttons on some of Sega's old arcade sticks with new parts like Sanwa?

EDIT: Oops, this was meant to be in Insert Coin.

Which sticks are you talking about, the Genesis' Arcade Power Sticks, or the Japanese Saturn's Virtua Stick?

I was talking about genesis sticks like the Arcade power stick. I have a hori arcade fighter stick dual for genesis that I want to switch the buttons and stick on. I was just wondering if anyone here had tried switching parts on older sticks like these.

Yeah, real micro-switched buttons and stick would be nice on our 6-button arcade sticks. :D

I don't think there's room. I think you'd be better off taking any ol arcade stick and soldering in a 6-button controller PCB.

I agree, I don't think you'll fit arcade parts in them. Personally rather than just soldering in a 6 button pad PCB into another arcade stick I think it might be better to wire all the connections on the stick to a new socket of some kind (VGA type might do). That way you could use a six button pad to create an external converter box that connects to the Genesis. Why would you want to use an external box? Because then you could create new converters for any console you like.
