Called something else in NA, fogot what it was.

This lil game completely went under my rader untill last week. Im very much a shinobi fan. Though im a pretty crappy player im still having fun playing them to this day.

I was shocked to see that this game was a motion captured one. And even more so when i noticed that it actually worked. Its a fine little game even if its nowhere near the original arcade.

A bit easy Id say, and the controls arent as precise as its previous counterparts. The character has a little more weight than in super shinobi though. (I hated that, jump up fast, float down like a paper swallow).

My question to you. Are there more Shinobi games out there?

Shinobi Legions for the Saturn? Not a bad game, certainly not as bad as most make it out to be. The thing that makes it worse than other Shinobi games is that your main weapon is your sword and your shurikens are secondary,

Sorry for the necropost, but I've recently gotten into Shinobi Legions lately and have made it all the way to Level 9. Unfortunately, I don't have a manual and haven't been able to figure out Shinobi's comprehensive moveset. I would specifically like to know how to execute a ninja roll that I sometimes pull off by accident. Thanks in advance to all you pro-players.

I haven't gotten a chance to play this one for more than 5 mins, but wow does it look amazing. I don't understand the bad press at all. Tight controls, amazing look, the music is kinda meh, but overall I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy the game a lot. I didn't enjoy paying for it though

Words i would use to describe the graphics would be "pathetic", "amateurish", and "cheesy" completely lacking in style and artistry etc.

Words I would use to describe the gameplay would be "uninspired" and "rehash"

Yeah, to each his own and all that jazz, right?

So... can anybody tell me how to pull off the ninja roll?

Please. With sugar on top?

The graphics aren't that bad, and the gameplay is no more rehashed than any other side-scroller of the era. Plus, it has the most awesomely cheesy cut scenes ever!

I bought Shin Shinobi Den for like 5 dollars years ago. It's a good solid title and the gameplay is good. But the graphics are meh. I will say this though if you combine the gameplay of this game with the graphics of Taromaru then you have the best Shinobi game ever.

Spot on it's a nice game and I loved the B-Movie FMV. The only trouble was the graphics should have been a showcase for the Saturn and they were rather a let down . The funny thing is the 1st screen shots of the game and on the leaflet(that came with the launch Jp Saturn) looked incredible

Solid, underrated game. Would I prefer awesome, hand-drawn 2D sprites? Absolutely. Do I hate the digitized graphics, though? Not by a long shot! It gives the title a nice, cheesy charm that meshes very well with the "so bad they're awesome" B-Movie cut scenes. The game itself is difficult, but a lot of fun. I still don't think I've passed level 7 or so, but it's been quite a while since I sat down with it so I may be off there.

I just checked my manual, and unless I'm blind it doesn't actually tell you how to perform it. Sorry bro! I'd check gamefaqs.

Speaking of Shin Shinobi Den/Shinobi Legions/Shinobi X...

The European version of Shinobi Legions, published by Sega Europe and renamed Shinobi X, was delayed and released in 1996 due to the fact that Sega Europe's producer David Nulty disliked the original music score and wanted to change it for the European release,[1] in a similar way that Sega of America did years before with the North American release of Sonic CD. The whole in-game tracks were replaced by noted British video game composer Richard Jacques, while the cutscene music were left intact. The European soundtrack is generally considered superior to the original Japanese soundtrack and closer in style to the traditional series, as Richard had the intention of resembling the style of Yuzo Koshiro previous compositions in the series.[2] The North American version, published in 1995 by Vic Tokai, had retained the same music as the Japanese version.

Does anyone have the European soundtrack by Richard Jacques, or know where I can find it? I'd really like to hear it. The idea of one of my favorite game composers aping the style of one of my other favorite game composers tickles me to no end. Plus I feel like a Koshiro inspired soundtrack in a Shinobi game just makes sense.

Wow, first of all thanks so much for those scans, The Coop! They do clear up a number of questions I have about the basic moves.

And yet, no advice on how to roll! They actually tell you how to attack while rolling, but not how to roll!

I can't help but think there might be another section for more "advance" moves, since all the moves in the scans were listed under "Basic Moves." It seems they left another one out too. There is an unlisted (from what I can tell) combo sword technique that is executed when you press B repeatedly. It ends with Sho doing a lunging slash (which can kill you very easily in Stage 7)!

I have yet to find a thorough walkthrough or movelist on the internet. Strange... the Net rarely fails me in that regard. But I guess that's Saturn games for ya!
