About me

I was once a little boy who grew up in a small town village.
The first thing I remember getting as a boy is Sega.

My cousin gave me his Sega in 1996.
He sacrificed his Sega to me for his new Sony PlayStation.
He had just got a PlayStation and decided the 16 bit world wasn't exciting enough.

Luckily I got 13 games included free and he didn't charge me for anything because we are family.

I was so proud of owning Sega that I played through each Sonic game again and again and again until 1997 when I won my first Sonic game. I beat Sonic 3 and finally defeated Dr Robotnik.

I was hooked on Sega ever since 1996 and I even go to my local Arcade where they have Outrun 2006 and Daytona Usa. Until today they still have Daytona. It never gets old.

I melted my Sega with a soldering iron and haven't used it ever since, but I thankfully created my own plastic using StyroFoam and Acetone. Now I have revived my Sega to it's former glory, the only problem is my Sega has white areas with newly formed plastic whereas the most of it is in black, to help my Sega look genuine I plan to paint it towards the end of 2011.

I will purchase a Limo and have a Sega modded into the rear passenger seat to have the ultimate fun. This will be a never before seen creation and I plan on going solo with the TV Show Pimp My Ride to get it done professionally. This is going to be showcased here on the site soon.

I managed to get a second-model SEGA Genesis from Toys R Us with my own money, after I had begun working and driving. I think the price was around $100-120, but it came with a six-button Genesis controller, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. Slightly disappointing was the lack of cases for those two games, a practice I had long appreciated and wished Nintendo took part in (and still do. The wimpy Wii Sports sleeve just doesn’t do it for me).

I still have that Genesis and those games in fact, plus one or two others, including Wolf’s old Sonic the Hedgehog 2, complete with case (but no booklet). In fact, I had to get Wolf to get all the Chaos Emeralds for me, because to this day, I still cannot get more than one or two of them at best. It will be a sad day when those batteries go, because I will definitely be screwed. And such a shame, too; I love the Doomsday Zone in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Now, I had a Sega and I quit buying counsel game systems back in 94, when i got my first computer. I figured that Counsel gaming was dead and empty compared to the fast growing computer industry. It turned out to be right. The computer games have far better performance and graphics in all areas. The multiplayer and complexity is far superior to any TV game. Who wants to play a damn game on their TV? Maybe if i was 10 I would. But kiddies, it time to grow up.

The XBOX has risen some questions about the death of the computer. Since the XBOX is equal to a 733mhz comp with a cable modem, it seems like a serious issue. But, how can you play Strategy Games on your num pad? Multiplayer computer gaming and computer games themselves will always be better than playing on your TV with the neighbor kid and uncle lue. Computer games grow so fast, and they are not limited by the systems performace. For instance once the technology gets better, the Xbox will be limited to 733mhz capabilties and the TV resolution. While computer is a 2.0ghz now and its max res is 1900x1300! In a year or so the games will explode and totally dust every tv game. So its your choice, do you want to keep on buying Counsels for your TV and spend 600 bucks every 2 years( 1 system = 300, 3 games = 150, Memory/controlers = the rest)? Or do you want to buy one comp, and upgrade it every two years and have superior graphics and performace? Memory is now dirt cheap for computers, and with 3D cards. Not to mention online gaming and internet possiblites!

Sega.... this is where Sega made it's fatal mistake. Had they waited and released this console instead of the Saturn, I think that today we would have a four-way battle in the console gaming world. Alas, Sega decided to bombard the marketplace with too many consoles, in too short a time. Now comes the days of the Dreamcast, arguably the best console ever created up to that point(and I happen to argue in favor of the statement). The Dreamcast was the first true 128bit system. A real step in the right direction, the Dreamcast offered true online play via a cable modem, boasted crisper, clearer graphics than the PSX, had those fantastically Japanese titles (Chu Chu Rocket? Hell yeah!), was Windows-based, and offered USB support. Not to mention all the things you can do to a Dreamcast, but there's forums for that. Here was a twist for Nintendo.... Capcom was releasing titles on the PSX and the Dreamcast, and NOT the 64. Final Fantasy was a PSX exclusive, and would remain a Sony exlusivefor years.

Something about playing a Sega game on the XBOX, or the PS2 , or even the Gamecube makes me smile. Here was a company that didn't break rules, it wrote rules with Nintendo, but, without Sega, where would we be? There would never have been any true competition, and Nintendo would be our only solution for our home gaming needs. Titles like Halo, Resident Evil, DooM3, the Legacy of Kain series, Fatal Frame, Grand Theft Auto, Silent Hill and a lot of others might never had been made were it not for Sega always being there to remind Nintendo that it's a sissy. Now, Sony and Microsoft have that honor.

Arguing over Sega vs Nintendo is pointless. Those arguements are the reasons such consoles as the Turbo Grafx 16 never got noticed in America. I mean, seriously. If you've never played Splatterhouse (the first one), Devil's Crush or the TG16 Fantasy Zone, you are missing out. The age-old Sega vs Nintendo debate is as idiotic as the timeless Chevy vs Ford debate. I was a KFC worker for a long time and I can tell you this: they're both peices of crap. And the bottom line is: Games are games. Play them or don't, but if you choose not to, make that choice based on the games, not the console. People on both sides missed good titles because they felt that the "other system" had no good games because they only played Revolution X or Zero Wing.
