I've always considered 4-6 the pinnacle of the series as well. Conan was one of the main writers during that era, although he is only credited as head writer on a few. One of my favs from that span is 'Homer Goes to College' in season 5. All of Homer's knowledge of college comes from 70s and 80s comedies like Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds, so he brings that mentality to college. It is absolutely hilarious in every way.
