And please remove those nerdy sampled elephants screaming... or replace them with some nice SN effects that would fit...
No need for 256 colors. Video games are not paintings. Video games are collections of sprites and playfields designed to be played on a CRT screen. There are sophisticated methods of pixel clustering...
For me it is clear... any sample playback that cannot run aside the game code is pretty much useless as Sega is the GAMING device... if this can be used to enhance the video games by high resolution...
I think the Mega Drive port of Midnight Resistance is OK. I remember the coin-op machine had spinners so that you could rotate the gun. Even the coin op game was running a bit sluggish with slowdowns...
How did they do that? Line scroll?

That sounds like a ever-repeating generic disco mishmash masked with brainwashing beat... where your "musical genius" aspect is, is beyond me
The 360 was a bad design. It has a decent GPU but far too many mistakes. The original Xbox was the way to go. MS did it right first, then failed.
My first ever computer. My parents bought it for me second hand in the summer of '89. By this time its games were reaching the limits and were very good indeed. Titles like Hysteria, Silkworm,...
What exactly do those numbers represent?
Is it possible to reduce the amount of bytes per tile by reducing number of colours of that tile? How about using just one color for instance?
I cannot think of one game that would show the instant flip-screen but it should be perfectly doable if you did not need whole bunch of different tiles I think.
Yes I understand the basics. But imagine you need to perform some huge update. Now how do you do that at 60fps?
Funny that people mention Atari 2600 in this thread. It is the only console out of them that allows the CPU to fully render the display on the fly rather than being limited by those DMAs, I/Os and...
What is the actual size of a Genesis screen provided you fill the entire visible area on the screen with tiles? I know that there are 2 playfields and sprites... but for the beginning...
I have...
I am disappointed with the design of Wonder Boy in Monster World for Mega Drive. It is worse than the original Monsterland I remember from coin ops.
The major issues I have with this MD sequel...
Well, yes Prince Of Persia and Flashback... Notice they both have quite a long pauses between 2 screens... suspicious but I think that was purely intentinal as Chilly Willie said, it is possible to...
I was just wondering... are there any flip-screen games on the Mega Drive? You know, the good old school screen-by-screen goodies like Atic Atac, Sabre Wulf, Dynamite Dan... mostly Spectrum stuff......
It's not the number of colors that makes a good looking video game, believe me.
Why did you choose Fifa? That game is far far away from being a good game... Inability to control where the ball will go will make the people frustrated! You should really replace it with NHL!
The real console should be played with real authentic cartridges. If you start using some host FPGA processors you are creating an emulator. Full stop.
The crash will be coming but it will hit certain genres one by one. The dead gerne at the moment is for instance racing arcade games... absolutely nothing new to give to players... even Flopza on...
Exactly. The amount of money the resellers are asking for is completely unacceptable. They bet on the mentality of Mega Drive fans... But I say no, this thing is not worth the price equal to brand...
Hi, could you please identify the video chipset on that motherboard? Which manufacturer and model number?
Generally I would like to have all early 80s arcade hits on Genesis. And thanks god for the excellent Williams Hits compilation. Nearly arcade perfect.
Galaxian, Pooyan, Scramble, Super Cobra,...
