I had a problem with a scratched vay disk. Luckily it was scratched during an FMV so I just copied the cd ignoring the errors and used the back up to play through the scratch, then switched cds back.

I bought my 32X solely to play Knuckles Chaotix. I felt it was well worth it. Mind you I have picked up a few other games in the process. Star Wars I would recommend as well.
