Yeah, about the pin out diagrams being backwards...you're right. I mentioned this in the earlier posts in this thread. I only learned that once I started soldering the cable.

Looks good to me, but I'd wait for more input from others who have direct experience with the 1084. Just make sure that they use the correct type of 8-pin plug...it's the rare kind that's U-shaped,...
Yeah, it's very common that LCDs won't accept 240p over component. Mine doesn't. You can easily confirm it by connecting your PS2 by component and playing a PS1 game. It probably won't work...
That's pretty weird. Thanks for the warning. That's the kind of stuff that chews up time. I'm sure it would take me two hours to do 40 caps...not a bad job to do while watching some seinfeld...
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. As you know, that's a lot of work :-) There must be 25 or 30 of those things on there! I'll consider it after I get a few other projects out of the way. I...
I actually have that terminator (two of them, actually) , and unfortunately, it didn't help. Maybe I'll hook it all up to a Sega CD and give that a try...can't hurt.
OTOH, it's possible that the...
Ok, an update...
It is a VA3, as I suspected, and it has a Motorola CPU (whereas my other VA3 has the Motorola). It may have been repaired/refurbed b/c there is a large sticker on the heat sink...
I was wondering the same thing. Crazy thing is that these are all Rev 0 (when I peak in by the cart slot) and all three don't work with this Genesis. And one is from Japan and two are from Taiwan. ...
LOL, it's a very nice non-TMSS console and does everything else perfectly, so I wont' junk it any time soon ;-) I was hoping to keep it, since it's nicer than my current VA3...it actually looks like...
I know I re-seated the one 32 module back when I bought it (it wasn't working then and that fixed it) but the other ones I have not. But these three 32X modules work in two or three other Genesis...
Hey guys,
I have a non-TMSS Model 1 Genesis (haven't checked the revision, but assuming VA3) and I can't get any 32X modules to work on it. I've tried 3 modules that work fine with my other...
I think this was sort of the original version of the mod, but it really comes down to personal preference and the TV used. You're actually amping chroma and using lower ohm resistors, so the picture...
FYI, I think plasma burn is a thing of the past. The displays now twitch every so often, supposedly making them burn-free. IMO, plasma has the best picture for non-HD content...similar to a CRT. ...
Awesome, thanks! Big help...
I forgot about the AV out having 5V...cool. Yeah, I didn't see any artifacts outside of the va3 rainbow banding...
Thanks, this is basically the exact mod I did, but I think I used 75 ohm resistors for both lines. But the question I really asked was the logistics of the wiring, etc. ie..
1. Solder...
Hey guys,
I recently added an S-video mod to my Model 1 Genesis and it worked great. I did the amp on luma only with a 2N3904 and I put 220 uF capacitors on both the luma and chroma lines along...
OP, have you worked with the 6502 asm emulator that runs in javascript? Looks like a quick and easy way to test/modify code w/o even installing anything. Not sure if there is one for the 68000,...
Cool thread :-) It seems that there is a lot of good documentation on 6502 assembly, both at the CPU instruction and the 8-bit platform, so I've always figured this would be an easier way to get...
Yeah, that handling fee sucks. There has to be someone else with these. BTW, here is a cool one...also from Newark, though. It may be able to be mounted from behind with a small bolt and nut.
...
You mention glue-in ones. Are you referring to the ones that are very small and just insert from the outside? I bought a bag of those to try out but haven't actually drilled my console yet. How...
I have at least two VA7s, but they're set aside to mod for S-video and stereo (from the back panel). Would you want one with those mods ore are you looking for an as-is one? You can PM me back if...
I went through the same thing a while back till I eventually found one...took a while. The slim PS2 power supply will fit, but it's 8.5V. I was too chicken to try it, but if it has a voltage...
Got a GameCube component cable on Saturday for $5! :-)
Yes, they're the same adapter...at least the specs.
Man, from the negative vibe sent out from every post, this seemed like OldSchool. And when he was saying that a Genesis Model 1 with RCA jacks would be worth $100 to "non-modders" in another thred...
