Pretty sure it's 'The Last Soul' it reminded me of. The outro especially reminds me of the SoR OST, the way the synth fades out.

Yeah, Yakuza 4 is great. So much to do.
I've wondered this for years, but surely Sega-16 will know.

I swear that synth and bass is from a Streets of Rage game, but I can't place it.

Demon's Souls, Wizardry(coming out on PSN whenever it's back up), Disgaea 3(but 4 will be better), Folklore, to name a few.
I'm in the Lunar camp. Nothing quite like it, especially considering it has amazing VA and animation.
I only wish I had one for Elemental Gearbolt. That game absolutely must be played with a light gun.
Sadly, the NYC setting is pretty much why the game bombed. It's still a fine game, regardless.
Sakura Wars is pretty much considered to have been the last great game for the PS2.
Shame no one bought it.
Some people have consoles that still work, others are ticking time bombs, so it all depends on the unit.
Uh, Bayonetta is extremely gory, why is that being recommended?
Death Smiles is fun if you're into shmups.
The Ultramixes on Xbox have amazing songlists, especially 3 & 4.
I'd say the best are definitely MAX 2 and Konamix(PS1).
CV is my favorite too.
I love the Saturn the way it is.
Dragon Force, no question.
Yep.
Add Shining The Holy Ark to the RPG list. Nice dungeon crawling gem.
Mystaria/Blazing Heroes is worth a mention as SRPGs go, too.
That's a shame, because the PSP has some phenomenal RPGs.
Do you like rhythm games? Consider DJ MAX Fever. Or Portable 3 as a second.
Xyanide, and there were 'director's cut' versions of Fatal Frame 1 & 2 that were XB exclusive.
It's funny how the situation reversed between the Saturn and the Dreamcast.
Saturn: successful in Japan, bombed in the US
Dreamcast: exact opposite, but still not enough to stop the PS2.

Regarding JSRF, it's a fun game, and has great music, but it's no JGR.
Looks more original than Sonic 4 does.
The big advantage to SFR, IMO, is that the levels look original, not like rehashes.
The graphics look amazing even today.
At the time, I couldn't believe they'd pulled it off.
No More Heroes 2 has a shmup game called Pure White Strawberry(or something).
It's pretty fun.
Digital Devil Saga also had a shmup mini game with Cielo.
I really want to play King's Field, because it looks like Demon's Souls only darker.
Great music, too.
Offhand...
10. Deception III: Dark Delusion (PS1)
9. Killer7 (Gamecube)
8. Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)
7. Demon's Souls (PS3)
6. Digital Devil Saga (PS2)
5. Persona 2: Eternal...
