I thought it was an entertaining movie. I was skeptical at first because it was a Tim Burton film. He's done amazing work like A Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride, but those were his original creations. I thought he was going to do Alice in Wonderland and just make a quick buck, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very well put together.
I have some thoughts about the RealD-3D glasses. During the first 30 minutes of using them, it'll take you a while to understand where your attention is supposed to be focused. There's stuff in the foreground, stuff in the background, and a whole bunch of miscellanious stuff scattered throughout. On certain occasions, I'd be scanning the foreground when a subtle important event was happening in the background. After the first 30-45 minutes, I rarely had it happen again. Another thing I noticed is that the glasses take detracts from the minor details. When I took the glasses off momentarily to see the movie, I could tell it was in HD. When I put them back on, everything was darker and far less detailed.
Before the show, we had an hour to kill so I went to the arcade with my friends, and they had the House of the Dead. I didn't expect it at all. I haven't seen one of these working since I was about 7. All the arcades I've been to recently have cleared out all retro games and made way for shitty prize grabbers.
Then I had a really great idea.
