Default PDF Downloads or Scans of media related Sega stuff.

It would be a big hassle but worth it all.

Since I just discovered I have a few ads and other things that are not in the archive I decided to set up an album on Photobucket where I am in the process of upload a ton of stuff I guess most have never seen. Including a ad for Electronic Arts one called Genius it's the very 1st one in fact. 2 and the later ones are there but not the 1st.

I am also giving open permission to any one to use these scans anyway they want.

Hello, all! I'm newly registered because I saw this thread. I've been poking around this site for quite some time though.

Good things are coming! Here's a whistle wetter for the time being. I'll be updating this thread as time goes on with further developments! I'm sorry for the spacing and formatting for the copy and paste below... Reformatting would take a lot of time.

innumerable ammounts of pages, art, media over the years!

Big thanks to the communities on UG, Redump.org, No-Intro

Going from analog to digital can be a mind boggling process, no

matter the medium. This is a relatively easy to follow guide

explaining, step by step, my method for preserving soft copies

of the concrete video game experience that we all knew and loved

as youths and adults. Perhaps your method(s) differ. As with

photo editing software, there are multiple ways to accomplish

the same desired end product. Take what you like and leave the

rest. All that I ask is that the end result is the same; very

high quality scans of your video games' flat surfaces to share

with the rest of the world.

    ** 2.1) Scanning **

    ** **

    *******************

Fun stuff, that scanning. Who am I kidding? It's boring,

boring shirt. It's gotta be done though. Here's how I suggest

    going about doing it.

    *******************

    ** **

    ** 2.1.1) Method **

    ** **

    *******************

    Flat. Quick.

    Single Thickness Sheets

    1) Wipe your scanner clean

    2) Place the inlay, registration card, promo card, etc down on

    the scanner bed.

    3) Lay 2 pieces of white paper on top.

    4) Put a book on top of the item. Make sure the book is

larger than the item you laid down. Alternatively you can

cut out a piece of cardboard or use any other large flat

    surface.

    5) Put a heavy item on top of the book or flat piece. I use a

4 pound rock on one end a small change jug on the other.

This will ensure that the item being scanned is completely

flat and has a white background behind it.

    Discs

    1) Place 2 or more discs on your scanner bed.

    2) Scan as normal with your scanner's lid down.

    Manuals

    Softcore

    1) Open each page and scan using the method described for

single thickness sheets. You may want to bend the pages

back to make the manual a little flatter.

    HARDCORE

    1) Remove the staple(s) and scan using the single sheet method.

Page order will be corrected in the editing steps.

    *********************

    ** **

    ** 2.1.2) Settings **

    ** **

    *********************

All scans should conform to these setting guidelines for valid submissions.

    1) Scans must be 400dpi or larger. If scanning in at 400dpi

the "Descreen" or "Magazine" setting on your scanner software

    must be enabled.

    2) Scans at 600dpi or above may or may not use the Descreen setting.

If your scanner does not have Descreen as an option, you must scan

    at 600dpi or above.

    3) Scans must be in color, even for black and white items.

    4) Scans may not at anytime be saved or converted to JPEG, GIF or any

other lossy formats. 24-bit PNG is suggested for raw scans. TIFF and

BMP are acceptable formats as well.

    5) Exposure, Gain, Contrast or any other option in your scanner software

many not be changed from their default(0) values. Auto or manual

color correcting inside your scanner's software is highly frowned upon.

    ************************************

    ** **

    ** 2.1.3) Additional Requirements **

    ** **

    ************************************

    1) All submitted raw scans must be accompanied with the scanner model and

settings used. This includes resolution(400dpi, 600dpi, 1200dpi, etc.)

and whether or not descreen was used.

    2) Raw images may not be altered any any way shape or form. This includes

rotating, blemish removal, color correction, etc.

    3) Raw scans must be cropped with a large enough border so as not to lose

any part of the item being preserved. Do not crop on straight edges.

LEAVE A SMALL BORDER FOR THE EDITORS!!!
