What does "pirate-like" even mean?
Could anyone do a write up on how to program the firmware using a PC? Don't want to fork out 200 big ones for a byteblaster :S
As far as im aware, this;

This is what you need to flash the firmware, you will also need a 10pin header (this was confirmed by krikzz on the assembler forums)

10 pin header

You will need this software to flash it:

This is a vid with the steps you need to take to flash the everdrive.

(This is taken from the assembler everdrive forums, I have not tried it yet myself)
Hope this helps
I might be a little ignorant posting this, but have there been any super-important features added to the firmware that would affect a shmuck like me that's just playing no frills Genesis games? From what I've been able to gather, most of the latest updates have been for SegaCD and SMS support correct?
I've been thinking about getting the update hardware together, but I'm having a hard time worrying about it since the Everdrive has worked perfectly for me so far. I think mine came with Firmware rev 8.
Cheers!

Is the pioneer laser active compatable with the everdrive?
After a few weeks with this lovely cart, i find myself facing the same dilemma i had with emulation on my PC, too many games! I find i only play a game for a few minutes before wanting to try something else.
Too many games, not enough time.
Yeah, that's because you're all excited and curious. I was the same way. Eventually you'll wind down and play games for longer before switching to something else.
