Thumbs down The Duel: Test Drive II

The Duel: Test Drive II was another Amiga port to make the jump to the Genesis. Unfortunately for this racer, a lot of horsepower was lost in the transition. Read our full review for all the details on this less-than-stellar port.

I haven't played the Driven series but it is quite slow and annoying and the frame rate leaves you making last second decisions which adds to the "annoying" of the game.

Its okay to be honest it does have a few problems some of the collisions are a little suspect and the way you slip and drop of the cliff edge made me laugh but in a bad way lol

Long time since someone has posted in this thread, but i have to ask, what's with all the hate for the game? I enjoy it very much. I think it's a great racing game. Though i know people say the frame rate is bad, but it does not ruin the game. The "in car" view is also nice in my opinion. But i am curious why this game is so disliked?

The fact that the game actually has battery save (pretty much only for the options and a high-score table, I think?) is fairly impressive... not common at all, for a Genesis racing game! The review probably should mention it, but doesn't.

As for the game, though, yeah, it's very slow and hard to get used to. It's not bad, but yeah... it's slow.

Yeah...I hear Amiga fans brag about this one. Muhahaha....those suckers were exposed to such mediocre games in their childhood.

    But this game...its just....bad.

I love this game. I have great memories of playing it when I was a kid too. One of my favourite driving games on the MD.
To be this good takes AGES, to be this good takes SEGA!

"The Duel set the stage for racing games everywhere"

"The rivalry between the precise 959 and the wild F40 was one fought out on computer screens as well as the streets"

    At this link:

Interesting that both this game and Turbo Outrun were released in 1989 and they both feature the same car rivalry. Does anyone have more precise date about which one came first? Of course I mean original releases, that is: the first commercially home computer version of The Duel vs. the original arcade release of Turbo Outrun.
