polishing up your system

should have been a bit clearer. Like i said i already cleaned it up (i disasembled it, hand washed the case parts in soapy water, wiped it down in alcohol, ect) I just want to polish it up a bit so it really shines. I actually tried a dashboard polish i found in my parents garage and that seemed to work pretty good but left a slippery resedue

I only heard one person say Armor all works ok but they said it leaves a residue as well. Has anyone else used it effectivly?

I'm curious what kinda 3 step plastic polish ooXxXoo used, can you fill us in? Also what exactly is plexus polish.. ive never heard of it

"Novus" plastic polish is the brand...The whole method comes in a 3 step bottles/numbers.....#3= for Heavy/deep scratches...#2=Light scratches/used after step 3..And #1=cleans all of the other steps polish residue...Beware that you'll need some heavy muscle as you apply the polish pastes ....

Most Auto Shops carry Plexus polish. It is used to remove scratches in Polyurethane coating on paint jobs and also replenishes plastics as well with a sheen. You spray the stuff on the surface and let it sit for a minute or so and then wipe it off with a lint free towell. It works wonders. It has a bit of a scent to it, but it's like lemons, so it's not too bad and it goes away once ot dries completely. Follow the link.

just wondering what you guys use to polish up your systems and make them shiney like they look in a lot of pics i see. I cleaned all mine up really well and they look good but id like to get it really shining. Would armorall work well?

The way to go it's micro-fiber, get it at office depot, its washable for like 1000 times, wont scratch, its incredible "gentle" on devices and takes away dirt and oil, no to mention dust, it also has anti-static property in case you clean metal too,and all of this without any kind of liquid based solutions.

Purified/deionized water is awesome for long term cleaning. It will dry smear free (which is perfect for around the 16bit logo) and actually bring plastic back to its original colour after a lot of cleans.

I use Pledge Wipes. It cleans them up really good and give them a nice shine.

believe it or not, if you first wipe your system down with regular glass cleaner, and then dry it off properly, use a tiny bit of wd30 spray and rub it all over the system. it will smell for a few hours but after the smell goes away, it looks incredibly like a new system. i got this trick from luke morse.

Using a Vac might help, the smaller the Vac, the better.

Don't know about the system itself (especially the shinny bits), but I used the Novus polish on some game carts that were pretty beat up. It didn't remove the deep gouges, but it did bring back a lot of the sheen they once had. I'm thinking that a proper sanding with fine grit is the best way though. I'd like to use a dremel tool but I don't think they make fine enough bits for plastic sanding/polishing and I'm not sure if there may be some draw backs compared to a hand sand.
