I don't own a xbox 360 however the slim interests me a bit and i've been thinking of picking one up once I find another job, does anyone here own one yet? how is it compared to the old model 360?

Same thing in a smaller case, and no red ring of LEDs.
Only time will tell if it's stable, hold on to your money for a bit.
Systems I currently own:
- Sega Genesis model 1 with S-video/stereo and US/JP region switch modded
- Victor Wondermega M2, JP/US switchable BIOS modded and overclocked
Is the slim-version compatible with the external HD-Dvd player?
I've appreciated movies more than any party I've ever been to, any time I've masturbated, any music I've ever listened to, any girl I've ever loved, any game I've ever played, any food I've ever eaten, any tv-series I've ever seen, any trip I've ever done and any life I've ever lived.
I'm kind've interesting in one(especially with no RROD), but two big reasons are keeping me away, first the 360 is so genre pigeon headed, It's not funny(and the Genres it doesn't really have, happen to be some of my favorites), and Mircosofts stupid moves(like discontinuing DLC for old games, and simular practices made by individual developers that develope games for the Microsoft systems).
its funny this is brought up because last week i had to buy a new 360 after my old one got a RROD (on my 3rd one now, christ what piles of junk)
I actually chose a 125gb elite spring pack over the new 360 for 2 reasons
1: cheaper, and who the hell really needs 250 gigs? seriously
2: the main reason: This is UNTESTED!
the untested part is what really gets me. The 360 is a very poorly designed system. It seems the last jasper lines that were out there were pretty stable and durable, so id much rather go with those that have had reports of running cooler and actually working, instead of some new redesign.
The fact that its even SMALLER and has fewer fans than the regular one, when heat was such a major issue has me very worried. I dont like that little 'x' look too. One of the problems with the original was the way it got skinny in the middle causing design problems with heat, and seeing them repeat it with the new system is disconcerting
w'ell see how it works but i wouldn't be surprised if 4 or 5 months down the road you hear about some major problem with this thing

its microsoft whats not to trust.![]()
I don't see why not. The HD DVD player is connected through USB, which the Slim still has, and the rest is just software, which has remained unchanged.
The Slim has a new CPU and GPU that are much smaller and more power efficient than the old models. That means it produces a lot less heat than before. The CPU and GPU are now also integrated into one chip, which is cooled by a single huge heatsink and fan. Besides that, the Slim has better protection against overheating than before. It can still overheat, as has already been proven, but instead of cooking itself like it used to, it just shuts itself off. Sounds good to me.

The slim should also not overheat as it shuts down if the console gets too hot.
If the 360 I have now fails, I'll get one.
