    Default PS3 Junk?

My PS3 died today with the wonderful red screen Ive tired everthing in safemode tried a new HDD and nothing. Perfect timing too just a few months out of its warranty. Is there any reason this hunk of junk would stop working or come with a short warranty I mean comon my XBOX 360 has a 3 yr warranty. So you pay twice as much at the time and get 1/3 the coverage! Thats great now they want me to pay them $150 to fix the dang thing.
I just dont get how every other system around it is working like my 360, wii, ps2, ps1, dreamcast, 32x, scd, genesis, nes.
I know that the dreamcast and ps2 have double the hours that PS3 has and the Genesis god knows how many hours it has heck ive left it on over night.
anyone else have the same problem

Welp Im gonna get a cold Mtn. Dew and enjoy me some Space Harrier 32x cheers Sega fans!

Simple answer, the PS3 is indeed a POS.

It has the worse software(talking about OP, not games) then any other console ever made, and the hardware has issues as well.

The main differance between the 360, and the PS3 hardware problem wise, is when the 360 red rings, it can be repaired(and technically perm so, if you know what you're doing), when the PS3 over heats or whatnot, It's fried for good.

PS. Do you live in like NJ or something, because if you do, I wouldn't be surprised if the Proc was downright melted(between the insane heat outside, and the equally insane heat the PS3 usually generates on top of the flawed mechanics/software of the system, It's amazing I haven't seen that many topics talking about their PS3 biting the dust lately).

Also are you kidding me, Sony would never give a decent warrenty on their stuff, they are in it to make money(their moto is **** sells, and at aparently high prises as well), if they did such, it would mean they would need to develop a quality item.

No I live in VA, and its been in the A/C all of its life.... I took it apart today to see if maybe it was my fault for not cleaning the dust out of it and there really wasnt alot in it so. I dont know what to todo with it sell it for parts or send it to sony.

Wow that sucks then, seems like another normal harware failure, which has been known to happen for no reason, and out of nowhere, but sadly they can't be repailed.

You can try to sell it for parts, but unless you know what broken part killed it, It's gonna be a hard sell(It's probally the poc, but who knows, it could be anything).

Wow really, I've known a lot of PS3s going nucular, and all, but not the Slim, looks like Sony has a real big quality problem going on(the Slims are pretty new for crying out loud). Well that really sucks then, sorry to hear that.

Older PS3s are known for having heating issues. Open it up and look at the thermal paste. You'll wonder what the hell they were thinking.

Also, there are ways to fix a broken PS3 yourself. A quick search on youtube for "ps3 ylod fix/repair" will result in tons of hits with tutorials on how to get the stuff working again.

Requires a heat gun and some other knick nacks though.

My 80 gig model has never had any problems and i use it to play all my dvds and blu rays aswell, if it overheats i saw something on The Gadget Show where they basically cook the cercuit board in an oven and it is fixed.

P.S my 360 was one of the later ones and got very occasional use, im talking like a couple of hours a month and guess what? its now junk the playstation 3 is certainly better made.

Something seems very missing from a thread here about overheating.

Strange. I NEVER shut off my PS3, it literally runs all the time. No probs whatsoever. Granted its in air conditioning, and its the original 60 GB model (upgraded to 500). I mainly use it for a media center though instead of for games....

Just a thought, have you tried taking it apart and cleaning it?
