Default Anything else besides the Genesis cleaner can help clean the slot pins?

Seems that some games on my X'Eye require me to put a bit of pressure on them before the system can read them properly. I've already tried my Genesis cleaner in it and those games do work perfectly well on my Genesis 3.

Any stuff around the house I could use?

First off, I have a simple question. How does the Genesis cleaning kit even work? It looks like a pass-through cart. Does it even carry electrical signals?

As for cleaning a slot, either wet a cartridge in rubbing alcohol, insert it into the slot a bunch of times, remove then clean and repeat a few more times, or get a toothbrush (that nobody uses!) dipped in rubbing alcohol and just scrub the slot pins until it's reasonably clean.

it is a polymer shape that is micro textured it kind of acts like a pencil eraser but doesnt leave any residue

it doesnt conduct just one side acts like a cart cleaner the other the card slot cleaner

its not a game genie although it is magic

i probably wouldn't use a credit card or gift card. a cloth wrap around a credit card is pretty thick and will just widen the pins.

i would recommended using something thinner.

Rubbing alcohol is the way to go, as far as a cleaning agent is concerned. Living in Seattle I was lucky to live close to NoA headquarters. One time I took my NES in to get it refurbished and they told me to use rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips to keep the heads on my carts clean and thusly keep my consoles cennectors clean too.

Credit card/gift card and cloth works well, I usually start dry, then use rubbing alcohol, then dry again until there's no more residue. I wouldn't worry about bending the pins... a credit card is as thin or thinner than many cart connectors. (and a tightly stretched thin cloth isn't going to add too much)

I've also used a tightly folded up piece fo printer paper or matte (not shiny) poster board/tag board for the "dry run" so to speak.

If there's actual oxidation or corrosion, you might have to go with fine sandpaper too. (I 've used 1000 grit or higher similar wrapped over a credit card)
But be careful and use that sparingly, you don't want to wear away the connectors, or the plating on the connectors if avoidable.

Start out with a folded piece of extra fine grit sandpaper in the pin slot. Run it back and forth a couple times.

Follow up with an old toothbrush dipped in 91% isopropyl alcohol. Again, back and forth in the slot a few times.

The system will play like new.
    It is finished!

I mixed and matched some ideas here and folded a piece of paper a few times, dipped the tip in rubbing alcohol and cleaned the pins. Works like a charm now, thanks guys.
