Alright, I keep reading about this game everywhere... What the hell is it? Is it really that much better for 32x?

The only difference with the 32x version is that the picture quality is exponentially cleaner. FMV games on Sega CD were pretty grainy, and as one of the very first, Night Trap was one of the grainiest.

Ugh. Playing those 32X CD games is such a chore, having to plug in all three AC adapters at once.
The 32X increased the colour palette of the Mega Drive and Mega CD. Plus, with its extra processors, 32XCDs could take up more room on the screen with better colours. As usual, if the 32X hadn't been castrated so early into its life it could've turned out with some pretty good games.

I dedicate a single powerstrip just for my Genny/SCD/32X combo. Hmm... one of these days I'm gonna have to make a single power supply with 3 plugs.Originally Posted by Melf
Hmm anyone got screen shots to see the difference?

Damn, that looks much better than the standard Sega CD video.
If I remember right, the 32X version is 1/2 screen and has more colors while the SCD version is 1/4 screen and like.... mucho less colors.Originally Posted by Melf
I mean 32X systems are cheap... if you are a Genny fan, a 32X is as necessary as say a Super CDROM 3.0 card is for your Turbografx, or Composite video out mod for your toploading NES, or ketchup for your fries.
Lucky for Melf, he got a 32X now, and he can do more trix.![]()
Can someone please explain to me what a 32X CD game is? Is it just a Sega CD game that's improved visually by having a 32X plugged in at the same time the Sega Cd is running or is it an individual game sold specifically for people who had a 32X/Sega Cd/Genny combo, and thus cannot be played w/o a 32X plugged in?
Actually, it's both. You can't play it without a 32X, and all it really does is improve the FMV quality. AFAIK, only a few FMV games were 32X-compatible.
The latter... In other words, its a game in CD format, that runs on and requires 32X hardware. Yep... all 3 Sega pieces must be put together to run.Originally Posted by Vicman
Fahrenheit came bundled with a 32x version and a non-32x version in the same package. To play the 32x version you need to use the non-32x version as a "key disc", otherwise it won't boot. Which, needless to say, is retarded.

Not really. It's to stop people thinking 'hmm, two identical games for the price of one. To eBay, awaaay!'
