Sunglasses Jurassic Park: The Lost World

The original Jurassic Park set the movie world on fire with its dramatic tale of living dinosaurs and science gone wrong. The game was hyped just as much, though reactions were (and still are) mixed. Of course, the inevitable sequel came, and Sega released a Genesis version soon after. Actually the third Jurassic Park game on the console, The Lost World was the final original domestic release for Sega's 16-bit wonder until Majesco ported Frogger a year later. Our poor Genesis was indeed inherited by reptiles and amphibians! Read our full review for all the details, and if you're still itching for some more Jurassic Park goodness, check out our retrospective of the series, as well as our Behind the Design article on the first game.

A great looking game, but ultimately one that i never grew up with, so sadly it
will forever pale in comparison to the BlueSky software platformers.

That or i just didn't dig the isometric gameplay.

As much as I like this one, nothing can top the arcade lightgun The Lost World game, especially the one with the big screen. Sega should get the license and port this alongside another of their lightgun games to the Wii

Wow... I've waited a long time for this game to be reviewed on the site, and I was even planning to do it myself, but now I regret never having gotten around to it. This review disappoints me a little; I have all the JP titles on the Genesis, and while I like the others this one is my favorite by far, actually being the Genesis game I replay the most. It has its share of problems, sure (something the review didn't mention was the slowdown it suffers at times) but I think it's full of well-executed ideas. Oh well, to each his own; I guess I'll address this by adding my own mini-review in the article's comments later.

Eh... uh... who the heck am I, you ask? Oh, never mind, just a lurker who's decided to step out of the shadows for a minute... yeah... Bye! <runs away>

This is the most under-rated game on the genesis in my opinion.

and as a trivial side note, this game is called The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Not Jurassic park: The lost World.

I like this game a lot. I got a cart only copy after I read the RV and have been enjoying playing the odd mission here and there for a while now. I love the "3D" sections, especially the tyranosaur chase and raft section. That's as far as I've got up to now.

I think it shows that the MD could really have (almost) competed with the SNES for those pseudo 3D games like racers and stuff.

Yeah I don't think I can trust some of these reviews. What the hell, Games like Bioship get a 7 and this gets a 6? When I first popped this game for a play, I had a hard time putting the controller down to the urge of wanting to keep exploring.

The game came out in 1996.

I made a semi review for it a while ago, which also shows the special effects you see in boss battles.
