    This is American va3 hardware. Perhaps however your doing it just doesnt work on some hardware.
    Uh - there's nothing to "do" but set the mode bit in the VDP. It works on my CDX, my Model 2 Genesis, and my Nomad. Try hooking that VA3 to another TV and eliminate that as part of the problem.

    I'll do that but remember interlacing works on other games fine though including the interlaced bad apple demo.

    Ok, so after much MUCH closer examination, it IS interlacing, but I see what's going on here. When the picture goes black, the interlacing is seen, when the picture is up, it appears to NOT be interlacing, but because of the two fields flickering two different colors, one set of color causes the CRT to bloom a little more than the other, and it's causing the fields to look like they are landing on each other.

    With a camera shooting the screen with a 1/15th shutter, you can see the two fields ARE actually separated, but barely..

    That's the whole point of the demo - the two fields "blend" to generate the full color range. So it's actually working better on that TV since the flicker is less apparent (to the point where you had to go to extreme measures to detect it).
