Default WTF?? I can't live without Toejam & Earl!

    hi all,

well clearing the loft i came across my beloved mk1 megadrive, sitting pretty in it's box, surrounded by a dustproof bag. Excitedly i jumped down and commenced to hook it up using all the official bits. i inserted the best platform game ever in history switched it on and .........sod all, just a black screen, after switching it on and off i came to the conclusion that there is a signal going to the tv, just not toejam and earl

After giving the MD a good blow (lol) and the cartridge one as well (PML) i switched it back on and success! i played it lovingly for hours, then decided to change to a diffferent game. I gave the new cart a good blow (RALOL) and bugger me, it didn't work, and it still doesn't work, tried over 50 carts, tried it on 3 different tvs, all got the signal but only getting a black screen, not even a logo. out of desperation i bought another one from ebay, went through the same procedure, played it once, change the cart and got the same result (used all new accessories to - rf lead etc) just that infuriating black screen. out of interest and not wanting to live without toejam and earl in my life anymore i purchased a mk2 megadrive in mint condition in the box and went thru the same thing - played it once and after changing the cart nothing, zilch, zero, bugger all.

I have come to the conclusion it's something to do with the tv, but i'm getting the same result on 3 different sets, i've retuned the tvs but nothing.

If anyone has any ideas here i'd like to here them - i really don't want to throw them away, i promised them to my four year old son and so far he thinks the megadrive is crap - he's only seen a blank screen!

You might want to see what channel your tv is on. If you're using an older RF adapter, the tv might have to be on channel 3 or 4. If you are using a newer line in method with a/v cables, you might want to make sure you're on the correct line in by pressing tv/video.
