    Default Soundtrack/VG Music Thread

I know a good many of us are fans of VG music, so I've been thinking about creating a thread for the trade/distribution of game rips, remixes, and/or OSTs for those that would like to paticipate.

First of all: Is this even allowed? It's never come up, as far as I know. As just about every song known to man has been uploaded onto YouTube, I can't imagine the harm of a small MP3 trade network, but I figured I'd ask before I started anything.

    Melf? Joe? What say you?

If anybody's looking for rips of Jurassic Park Rampage Edition and the original JP for Sega Genesis as well as tracks from the JPRE betas and JP beta I've got them uploaded somewhere. (though I might need to again.)

I'd totally be for it. But, I'd like it to be as lossless as possible (WAV instead of MP3, for example). If this thread were to be made, that would be best since those who want nice, high quality stuff can have it and people who want smaller files can compress the files themselves instead of there only being compressed files that people who want high quality sound can't make sound better. You can compress, but you can't decompress music files (unless they're in a .zip folder, which I don't think affects sound quality after unzipping, unless it does).

Of course, there's always the legality to be considered. I don't know what music people would be trading, but I have a feeling a good bit of it would be obscure and made by companies who either don't care enough to enforce copyright laws or companies that no longer exist. It might still be illegal, but I doubt we'd get arrested and sentenced to jail over it. Or will we?

Also, how will it all be organized? Perhaps there could be a master list in alphabetical order by game name besides a thread with no real order? I suppose you can always use the forum search engine thing, but that never seems to work very well, at least for me.

Anywho, I'm all for it as long as it's as high quality and lossless as possible and if it's not illegal. Organization is give or take, but preferred.

I have a few Soundtracks uploaded. The links are in my Thread. All CBR 320Kbps MP3. I contacted Melf asking if it was ok that I was doing that. He said as long as they are my own recordings, it's fine.

Ah, cool! I like the Mortal Kombat II soundtrack on the Genesis and 32X.

That's too bad about it having to be your own recordings. I got most of my soundtracks from Galbadia Hotel, and they're of varying bitrates.
