If you use small enough switches and thin wires you'll have no problems whatsoever.

Who's a good person to consult about Sega CDX region mod service anyway? It's sure one difficult project being cramped in there.
I will offer these mods when I have finished the plans for this mod. I am still searching better memory chip to replace the multimega prom. Tho from states shipping is expensive to finland and back.

OMGhow hard the internet is to find prom, eprom or eeproms. I only find these part number searches but I need list of chips to see them first, and then search place with partnumber to buy. If anyone know a good way to search parts from manifacturers with apliance and usage name?

I have yet very nice discovery to announce:

SEGA made eproms manufacturer is no other than: SAMSUNG.

This means that maybe I am able to get some nice chips for the mod.

The only manufacturer which I know atm have produced SOP40 4mbit, 256kb*16-bit eproms is OKI.

But sadly it has different pin layout as seen here:

If you search some 27c4096 proms (this is a generic part number, vendors tend to add prefixes), youll find ones with jedec pinouts

Thats not a problem. The problem is to find SOP40 package. DIP40 jedec package is easy to find and used already in other BIOS mods for CD1 and CD2 consoles as one of the chips shown in the 1st page of this thread.

How ever, Oki DE is contactict atm to OKI japan ife they do offer the same chip with JEDEC pinout so the dream of real mod chip for CDX would come to reality. Lets keep our finger crossed.

The X'eye and Wondermega 2 use the same sop40, so it can be utilized there as well. I hope you find a suitable part.

spreat to every webpage so those awfull jumper pictures dissapears from the net! ENJOY!

HAH, I found huge erros on jumper naming... There was jap and global on jp3-4 where they should be in JP1-2 an so on. I wondered why no one else noticed this and replied already

Also now found out about MCIC which has produced MX27C4096 and it 1-bit variant for sop40 but MX27C4096 is JEDEC PINOUT but with no SOP40 package. I asked if they could make for this chip also SOP40 package with JEDEC pinout. Lets keep our fingers also again crossed.

As feared, the macronix informed this:

    Dear MEGADRIVE Jeroi,

Thank you for your inquiry to Macronix International Co. LTD.
MX27C4096 is a 5V EPROM, Which is an old generation product and had already phased out since 10 years ago. EPROM had moved to 5V Flash and even 5V flash also gradually disappear in the market. Currently major product is 3V Flash and the trend is also moving to 1.8v.
What kind of product for you to use EPROM still? Are you for maintainance or production? If you still need such kind of EPROM and the volume is very small, I may suggest you to Google from website to find it in some component house who are selling old inventory, or second hand, otherwise you have better to modify your design to match with current trend. Hopefully the answer is helpful to you.

The resitor and area is bit dirty because I soldered and resoldered the wires many times druing the testing. I still have to unsolder led cables one more time because now pal is red and jp is green.

Keep in mind guys that this mod was a testing mod and result is not that clean when doing the mod with complete already once made tutorialwhere you just solder the cables and be happy.
