    Default Factory Sealed McDonalds?

Bought a "sealed" copy of McDonald's Treasure Land at a thrift store but I'm questioning if it's a factory seal or not. On the back, the wrap overlaps vertically. The wrap also covers over the hang tab that has ripped out of the plastic. Also, the plastic used is a thin material like NES factory sealed games.

I'm not to familiar with sealed games nor do I collect sealed games, but I thought that Genesis seals usually don't cover over the hang tab and the plastic used is usually very thick?

Also, anyone know of a "seal" guide or more info on sealed Sega games?

I think it's a legit seal. I see lots of sealed Genesis games with that vertical fold on the back.

What Joe said. The game is pretty good! And it isn't really worth that much factory sealed. I say, open it.

Yeah, but I think he is asking if their is a guide on how to tell whether a game is factory sealed or not.

I would actually be interested in a similar guide, because I see a lot of sealed game on ebay that are questionable.

Every sealed Genesis game I've ever seen always has the hang tab ripped out. Did stores ever use regular shelves back then?

I'd say keep the game sealed.

Open it, worth more to you as a game you got to play than a game that sat there unloved except for eye candy.

Unless it's going on ebay. I'd say just post it and make it clear that you're not certain that it's factory shrink wrap but to the best of your knowledge it is...

I'm thinking of opening it since I'm a huge Treasure fan and I know it's not worth a whole lot sealed. But on the other hand, I seen some video on the game play and it doesn't look like my type of game.

If I were to sell it and it ended up being a re-seal, I would be worried that someone re-sealed a different game inside or even worse, took the game out.

In any case, I want to learn more on sealed Sega games so I know what to look for if I were to come across other sealed games.

I think it's the real deal. Although it can be faked, most original seals would have the vertical overlap in the back (just look for irregularities). At any rate, I'd open it. It's a good Treasure game. I plan to open all my sealed items eventually. It's important to let the game finally breathe, for one (since a single slit in the shrink wrap will allow for heat and humidity to go in easily, but not out so readily), and secondly, you'll want to make sure the items inside are as Mint and CIB as you've thought (in my collection, I don't count my sealed games as part of my Mint and complete items because I don't know what awaits me inside. Some games will have half the label peeling off because of dessecation of the glue, etc.).

[P.S.]> I also forgot to mention that, at times, the shrink wrap can melt into the surface of the box. It's not a matter of if, but when it will happen. It's not as terrible as in the case of cardboard boxes (where the cover art is completely destroyed), but it can still be a hastle to "peel-off" from the rugged clear plastic on the clamshell.
