man you have tow ways for solving this problem 1-try switching on the region patch 2-downgrade your os to 16. that should do it.

    Ok, so...
sorry for the necro bump, but something really weird happened: i just received an original copy of this game, and guess what? it gives me the same issues the everdrive md gave to me: it gets stuck at that screen, EXCEPT if I choose Ellis?
    pretty weird.
is it a cartridge slot issue?

Are you still using your JP Mega Drive Model 1? Do you happen to know which board revision is it?

    yeah, it's the same.
I don't know which revision it is unfortunately, how do i check?
i guess that most games that gave me problems (like ESWAT), wouldn't work with the original cart either.
EDIT: model no. is HAA-2510, if it helps

It's probably a VA6, then. Weird. Maybe it's a known issue? IDK, I'm not exactly a shooter nut.
I have like two or three HAA-2510 myself, I'll test it when I get home.

Yep, a VA6. Thanks for the picture.
In a few hours I'll be at home and I'll give you a proper feedback about the issue.

Well, I just tested it and I can't reproduce the problem you have. Probably, there's some wrong with your MD. What can cause this problem? IDK.
Bad capacitors maybe? I have no idea.

I see. Thanks for your help anyways, at least we can confirm that it's not a common problem.
I recall reading somewhere about faulty cartridge slot/connector causing issues with games like random resets, which do happen sometimes to me (happened with Truxton. which also froze on me a few times on unrelated occations),
but i'm not sure about that or if it's related at all, so maybe someone with more technical knowledge could clarify.

Yeah, console repairing is not my thing so I'll link this thread to some properly skilled guys. But I'd bet on bad capacitors.

Have you tried cleaning the cart slot? Also do these issues happen if you move backwards/forwards the cartridge? If so, it might be a finnicky cart slot.

Yes, i did try cleaning it, didn't fix it
most games work well, some reset at random points (like ESWAT), some freeze (like outrun 2019 and contra hard corps) and TFIII gets stuck at the information screen, unless i choose Ellis, where it will play normally until i have to choose another stage where it will get stuck again. If I choose Hydra, then the music will loop a few times but (most times) the level will actually start, although some graphics get corrupted, most noticeably on the miniboss.
I tried moving the cart but it seems unrelated to these issues.
    Thanks BTW

Can you take closer pictures of the 2 big chips? I want to rule out the possibility of corrosion or cold solder joints.

never realized how much dust accumulated
I want to mention that most games that i have played on this console can be finished without issues.

Even the games that you mentioned earlier work with real carts but not the ED MD?
