Default SMS Action Replay - Why so expensive?

The MD and SNES versions are pretty much free in comparison. Are there no other carts (Game Genie, Game Shark) or what? I was going to add it to my AR collection, but hell if I'm gonna pay over $100 for one!

I think it was Europe only, with no alternative model.

Us Americans had readily available Game Genie for our MD and SNES. Not so on SMS.

The Action Replay was made by Datel, who at that time, only released the product in the UK. Hence it's rarity today.

Ok, so because SMS was only big in UK and few other European countries the whole thing didn't take off? It's kinda sad that there were no similar carts from Galoob and others.

Oh well, I'll get my AR fix with GC and Saturn versions then...

Yeah. We must import to use codes in SMS games. Or unfortunately really anything else that makes an SMS still worth owning today.

Just try to find our version of Sonic 1. It's absurd!

US Sonic 1 for SMS...is the same as the PAL version, other than some UPC sticker.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

I developed an Action Replay fetish over the years ...You name it, SMS, NES, SNES, Game Gear, 16-bit, Megadrive,Sega CD/MCD, etc...The Master system one was the first I ever got :

    N64, Saturn (Datel's & EMS), PS1, Dreamcast, Xbox, GameCube, Ps2 not pictured, I can't remember what I did with those atm ....

I think the oldest available is for the Amiga if I'm not mistaken ..

Which is why I recommend NOT attempting to look for it. As I said earlier if a wrong cart is put into the box, or the sticker gets defaced, it's impossible to verify as authentic any longer.

Well, that's all nice and humble of you to show us your mighty collection, but I got one for C64 (and Final Cartridge too).

Action Replays were very popular in Germany too. If you take a look at ebay then that's mostly where they seem to live (not least because UK evilbay won't allow them to be sold for completely illogical reasons :P)

Wish I'd bought an SMS AR a few years ago, they were a fraction of the stupid prices they fetch now
