Default Unknown Mega Drive 1 clone ??

    Hi,

I have stumbled across an auction for a seemingly unknown Mega Drive 1 clone. Looking at the photo, this appears identical to the Asian model but has different text where "MEGA DRIVE SEGA" should be on the front of the console. I have googled this text and cannot find any hits.

So my question is, would this be worth anything?

Sounds like a Samsung variant to me. Seems it was sold in Korea under various names over time: "Super Gam*boy", "Super Aladdin Boy" and eventually "Samsung Mega Drive":

What's up with the cartridge lock deal?

Asian cartridges had a different shape in comparison to European and American cartridges. The shape allowed for a piece of plastic to snap into place locking up the cartridge.

Is that why all those chinese bootlegs with American shaped cartridges have that notch in the side and why the Japanese Model 2 had a switch instead of a button?

It doesn't have any of those names. Am not keen on disclosing the name as if you google it the auction comes up and I want it for myself if its valuable =P Here's a pic:

Am thinking I should prolly buy it as it's got a pretty cheap starting bid.

No idea what it is. Look like it's been messed with seeing as the Reset button is missing and the volume adjuster was reinserted upside down.

That's a first model Japanese Mega Drive according to Wikipedia.

    Japan

The first Japanese model of the Sega Mega Drive
    Japanese-language settings
    Headphone jack
    AUX port marked A/V OUT
    9-pin EXT. port
    RF modulator
    Has a cartridge lock
On the circular molding, in purple is the text "AV Intelligent Terminal High Grade Multipurpose Use". At the bottom of the circle is a purple square section with a red power indicator LED.
"Mega Drive" is printed in white on the lower right of the console to the left of the Sega logo.
The reset button and start button on the joypad are blue.
    Model number HAA-2510

I wish all Sega MD/Genesis clones were unknown.

The Japanese MD2 does not have the cartridge lock, even with the switch instead of a button

GMF wrote that it does -not- have the "MEGA DRIVE SEGA" text of the Japanese / Asian original:

This is the greatest question ever.

Can anyone tell me if what I'm looking at is worth anything? I can't tell you what it is cause someone else might want it.

    JUST BUY THE F'ING THING!!!

All Sonic and Knuckles carts as well as several homebrews (including Pier Solar) did that too.
I think EA/Acclaim/Accolade carts might be narrow enough to work with the lock too, not sure.

Agreed. You ask for help, but don't want to tell anyone what it is because you don't know what it's worth.

    F'ing lame.

    To the OP...
If that's truly a clone, its most likely like the Super Senga :
