    Blinky Revolution X

They say music is the weapon, and if that's true, then Revolution X is a nuclear bomb. Dull, repetitive gameplay with some of the worst renditions of popular music you'll hear on cartridge is rounded out by a total lack of light gun compatibility. That's right friends, Revolution X is a shooting game that doesn't use any of the Genesis light guns. Still feeling crazy? Think you're livin' on the edge? Well, that's amazin'! Head on over to the other side then, and read our full review for all the crazy details, and hurry before I die from this hole in my soul (or before I squeeze in more Aerosmith song references).

I played the Saturn version once and it was possibly the worst game I've ever played. I can't imagine the Genesis version is any better.

How is this one compared to the SNES version? I've played that one and it was pretty hoaky at best.

The craziest thing about this game, I think, is that it was released on four platforms -- SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Playstation -- with light guns... and supported that systems' light gun on NONE of them. Yeah, all versions are d-pad only, I believe. What the heck?

I mean, it's not a good game, but it'd have been slightly better with lightgun support... Terminator 2: The Arcade Game had lightgun support on both SNES and Genesis, and mouse support too on SNES. What happened with this one?

Whew, I owned this for about 2 days last year. But I just couldn't stand it and traded it in for store credit towards another purchase. What a stinker this one is!

Such crappy games being reviewed these last months... People might start to think it's all the Mega Drive got. Did we run out of good games to review?

I remember even the arcade version of this being pretty campy and not a very good shooter. I can't imagine how bad the home port is.

And no mention of the dominatrix/potato demon final boss? Haha!

Well, we will eventually get to the games no one wanted to review. The stragglers that would have rather been forgotten about than played again. But I don't think we're there yet.

The arcade version wasn't the best shooter around, but it was still pretty fun to play. There was enough extras to keep me dropping more than a few quarters back in the day. The Genesis version, not so much. What were those lazy SOB's thinking making a light gun game that is not light gun compatible?

The Menacer was long gone by 1995. Nobody had one, Nobody wanted one.
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

Yeah, this port isn't good at all. It's playable, but that's all it is. As for the original arcade game I'd imagine it's not much better, but at least there's actual Aerosmith music to help you survive it. I'll give Rage Software, the developer of this port, some credit for at least trying out a port, but the Genesis just wasn't made for a game like this.

Though, honestly, how could Midway make a game like this with Aerosmith in it and not include Nine Lives? That song would have fit in perfectly.
