    Default Best offbeat Gamecube games

I just picked up a Gamecube for cheap and I am now looking for good games to play on it. Every best-of list I look up has picked the same exact games such as Zelda, Mario, Metroid and Resident Evil but I am looking for something that isn't just a Nintendo character or series port.

Any recommendation for good offbeat games for the Gamecube or does the system really suck that much?

    I enjoyed:

    Chibi Robo
Donkey Konga 1, 2, Jungle Beat
    Battalion Wars
    Animal Crossing
    Geist

That's all I can think of at the moment.

The GC port of Soul Calibur 2 was the one I played the most over the three versions that were released.

The GC version sold the most if I am not mistaken.

    Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2
    Chibi-Robo
Skies of Arcadia Legends (better than the DC original IMO)
    Beach Spikers
    Go! Go! Hypergrind
    I-Ninja
    Zoocube
    Wario Ware
    Killer 7
    Alien Hominid
    Egg Mania
    Geist
    Billy Hatcher
    P.N. 03
    Cubivore
    Worms Blast
    Lost Kingdoms
    Mr. Driller: Drill Land (import)
    Kururin Squash (import)

For a while, Gamecube was my favorite of the three (then-)current consoles. That changed later on, when the system became a ghost town. It definitely still has its share of fun.

Ultimate Muscle is also pretty good, it uses the AKI wrestling engine.

Phantasy Star Online was pretty good on the Gamecube, and you can still play it online on private servers.

Also Star Wars Rogue Squadron was a good game.

If you like Metal Gear Solid, they re-released the PS1 Metal Gear on GC. It was called Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. If is very fun.

Very good game, but is pricey for GC game, it ran me 25 bucks.

Me too, I found one locally at a gamestop for $25. I'm actually playing through it right now. Well worth it I think.

Well...what's being meant by "off beat" here? MGS and Rouge squadron don't really strike me as off beat... They are excellent games though. Since we're being so broad, REmake is another gook one, and Pikmin is another good "off beat" game.

I hear ya. Tales of Symphonia was pretty good. I haven't played it in a while but I remember it being good.
