spiderman Interview with Technopop? (Spider-Man vs Kingpin, Zero Tolerance)

About 3 years ago I planned on making a small fansite for the Genesis Spider-Man vs the Kingpin game. I intend to go through with it this time, and have been looking for the people behind the game.

Haven't been around for a while, so if everything that follows in this post is old news, I apoligize.

According to Wikipedia and an article at Spiderman Crawlspace the game was developed by Technopop and distributed by Sega. Turns out there's a website for Technopop:

    http://www.technopop.net/

Technopop also made Zero Tolerance, and worked on the sequel called Beyond Zero Tolerance. I contacted Randel Reiss and told him how much I appreciated the Spider-Man game. He said he'd pass on my kind words to his team. He also sent me a photo of a Sega booth with Spider-Man running on it, it's located in the lobby of their current company, Prarie Games (http://www.prairiegames.com).

Would it be of any interest to contact these people for an interview? I know *I* would be interested...

I forgot to mention it, but according to their website they became Sega's very first U.S. independent developer for the Sega Genesis and created most of the early development tools used by Sega Genesis developers

That's interesting. I knew Technopop did the Zero Tolerance games, but they were not mentioned on the title screen of Spider-Man I believe... maybe in the ending credits, I never came that far.

And here I always thought Zero Tolerance and the unfinished sequel were the only games they ever did for the MD.

An interview sounds like a great idea!

    Try for an interview man!

I wrote an article for Unseen64 about Zero Tolerance that should go up either tomorrow or the day after. The article shows all the beta I found in my prototype copy of Zero Tolerance. If you manage to get an interview, I would be interested in knowing why the decided to completely re-do the characters.

EDIT: Zero Tolerance beta here: http://www.unseen64.net/2010/04/16/z...e-md-gen-beta/

I would love to hear more about Zero Tolerance, how it was received and what the plans/story for the sequel were, and if they still have the source code to ZT2

I would honestly buy a finished ZT2, I really enjoyed the first game.

Actually I was thinking/hoping someone of Sega-16 would contact Technopop and
try to get an interview for Sega-16?

    You should go for it!!

Spider-Man vs Kingpin, and Zero Tolerance are great games!

Zero Tolerance is one of my fav genesis games of all the time! Please ask them why second game was never released in first place?

P.S. Mr.Smith, your guts is STILL mine! As a orange werewolf, I should rip out your guts the most painful way that you'll ever imagine! I guarantee this will happen one day! I should eat it like a king.

What's weird is that I'm 99% positive that Sega-16 did an interview with Randall Reiss already, but now I can't find the interview. Maybe I'm just confusing the time that he contacted me about that Zyrinx article I did.

    Why'd he do that?

When I was writing the article, a lot of sites gave Zyrinx credit for Zero Tolerance and he cleared up that issue.
