Default Just when you think Sony can't stoop any lower.

You agree that you will not use any unauthorized hardware, including peripherals not sold or licensed by a Sony company such as, by way of example only, non-licensed game enhancement devices, controllers, adaptors and power supply devices (collectively, "Non-Licensed Peripherals") or software to access or use Sony Online Services or any content or service provided on or through Sony Online Services."

This is supposedly Sony's new user agreement.

Just wow, are you ******* kidding me, so now you're actually forced to use their POS controllers or risk getting banned.

Yet another feature we're not allowed to use, surprised they didn't use a firmware to remove it, like the other features.

Note: most of the better designed PS3 controllers, aren't Lic by Sony(basically the lic 3rd party contollers copy the normal PS3 controller design).

Also I'm pretty sure this means you can't use USB adapters either.

I dunno. Rumor has it that Sony's going to start remotely killing hacked PS3s, since the PS3 is phoning home now.

They're pulling some pretty shady shit.

Although with the emphasis on "Sony Online Services," I have to wonder if it's more like misguided anti-cheating provisions.

Yea, but they also mention stuff like power supply, and adapters.

If they wanted to just cut down on cheating, banning mod chip users(do people even mod PS3s really), along with the use of game enhancement devices, and bug abusing/abusing a flaw to hack would be plenty to cover that.

Well you did say misguided lol, but I think there's more to it then that. It's Sony remember, their dumb actions usually revolve around their greed(meaning even if a change will make them literally just 1 more penny then they would've, they consider it a good change, no other veriables matter).

Don't bother me, I don't plan to hack my PS3 or use any 3rd party hardware. I just put the game in and play.

I really doubt that they'd do that as it would be a big lawsuit waiting to happen and a PR disaster. It could even open themselves up to criminal proceedings, especially outside of the US: unlawful destruction of property.

Yea, banning from using a service is a completely different thing then destroying a item someone bought(besides it won't make them money, if anything they'll lose money, and if there is a lawsuit, Sony could lose billions).

Yea, for good reason too, look at all the BS Sony has pulled, and they're still doing crap(I would've thought that they would've learned their lesson by now).

Yea, unless you don't give a **** about online at all, you probally shouldn't.

This is kind of old news. Anyway, my Apple keyboard still works. And 3rd party 6-button controllers still work I think.

Well they aren't using a Firmware update to remove such, It's in their user agreement, for their online service(and It's supposedly very new, so you must be thinking of something else). In other words, they're gonna ban people at will, if they're cought using such.

How the hell would they know if you're using a third party controller, anyway.
