Oh boy. One of the worst unlicensed brawlers I've seen

It was a custom request, but I like how the cover turned out so I figured what the hell might as well post it up. Enough people seem to own this game.

All the unlicensed fighting games are really bad, Tekken, Soul Blade, all the King of Fighters pirates, they're quite terrible. This one actually uses a different engine which runs a little better than the other games, making it not super terrible hahaha. It's quite playable actually, just the gameplay gets a little boring after a few fights. On the plus side though it actually has special moves the hit detection is decent, the arenas don't look half bad and most of the characters look pretty cool (and accurate too, except Frodo).

You know, this game is actually a hack of Tenchi Wo Kurau 3 / Chinese Fighter. Just take a look at the characters poses and you'll see all the sprites are EXACTLY the same, only changed in appearance





(Of course, these are ripped from the original Tenchi Wo Kurau 2)




EDIT: hey, don't get me wrong, I love your cover! I just loathe the game (why I kinda like Chinese Fighter completely elludes me, though).

Ha! I figured they probably ripped the sprites from somewhere, I just never heard of this Tenchi Wo Kurau or seen screens of it until now, though I must say they did a pretty good job converting them to look like LOTR characters, especially Legolas, not so much Frodo. I don't think this game is really deserving of too much hatred. It still plays and looks a lot better than most of the other Chinese pirate fighting games. I won't even bother making covers for those, unless someone REALLY wants one. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying this is a good game, I'd probably give it a generous 4/10 on a good day, but for a pirate fighting game from China that's pretty good. It does the basics of a fighting game and it's not completely broken. You can play from start to finish and other than suffering from uncreative design it doesn't really have any glitches or anything broken about it. You even get a congratulations screen when you beat it! LOL

I tried some of the other pirated fighting games out there like Soul Blade, and believe me they make this one look good.

I should check out this Tenchi Wo Kurau. What is it about me and this interest in unofficial games lol.

EDIT: I promise the next repro cover I make will be for a good game. Either Undeadline or Twinkle Tale

LotR/CF3 really isn't that bad, I can think of several licensed fighters on the MD that are worse than it.

Sould Blade is indeed terrible. This Tenchi Wo Kurau 3 / Chinese Fighter is just another generic brawler with a very simple engine. It's the original Tenchi Wo Kurau 2 (arcade/Saturn/PS1) you should check out

Anyway. You must have been played a different version of LOTR. Mine makes you fight the same enemies over and over, like 3 times each!

Yeah it sounds like we have different versions of it, my LOTR only makes you do that at the end of the game, in place of a boss in my version you just fight the last character 3 times. At least they're palette swaps hahaha

Nah, I never bothered because it was officially released in Europe. If you want though I could make a custom cover with the artwork I used on the repro cover. It wouldn't be hard to convert it to the MD template.

Really? You must have yet another version, mine ends after about 10 fights and you get a screen that says "Congratulations!!" and has a picture of Aragorn from the movie.
