The Snes reproductions there are nicer than the official product. The manuals and every game coming with a map or mini poster. I dont even know how one creates something that nice without having access to a cardboard printing machine.

I was wondering how someone would make a game box that looked so nice.

Large production runs of at least 100 carts and a lot of up front capital and connections in china. Those repros also have to be selling for about $100+ to make any money off it.

Yeah those are intense! I love the manuals and the maps, though I still can't stand cardboard boxes, plastic cases are infinitely better. Still though, these repros are awesome!

This is an exaggeration. You can easily make those boxes from digital prints on good carstock and the carts can be done by any of the repro wizards who stomp here. It's still sort of expensive, but you don't need to offset print or have a factory in China, just a kitchen table and a weekend.

Hey Clessy, that's pretty cool. Although, a part of the logo on the front cover seems to cut off a bit at the edge.

Also, where did you get the Japanese text for the back from? Did you write it? I can't even get Japanese letters to show up on my comp

I wrote it myself. Win7 comes with Japanese fonts preinstalled. If you're on XP you need the install disk. You put it in your computer. Then go to your language settings and pick install east asian languages.

Is there a Pier Solar US Classic Edition Clamshell Case version? I would really like something like that. That way I can put my classic USA cart in it, with the burned CD. And keep the original box and CD tucked away. Right now I have the burned CD in a DVD case - it looks pretty nice, but it doesn't fit well with the rest of my Sega Genesis/CD games, and I still have to pull the cart out of the original box if I want to play.

greg, after I get you those scans we've talked about (battle mania / story of thor), I've got a project for you if you're interested.

In Korea, the first game released was Tatsujin, but however it was released it never had a box. I was told that it was just given away as a cartridge. I'd like to try to work together and design a Korean cover for it. The first 10 games that were released in Korea all have a similar box design and use the Japanese artwork. The things that were added are pretty minimal and there are no long explanations, summaries, or writings in Korean, maybe just a tag line. Unfortunately, of those first 10 games, I only have 2 of them boxed to do scans with. I know a guy that has the others, but no scanner. If I can get scans from the other 8 games I think it would be an awesome project.

Ah damn, I'll just have to wait until I update to Win7. Are you fluent in Japanese or did you use a translator for that cover?

Is the US Classic Edition the one with the red stripe Genesis layout? If so, then no, those only came in cardboard boxes. I could try to make a printable cover for you, I'd just need a hi-res scan of it. The only thing I could see being an issue is if it's anything like Japanese MD version there is a bunch of reflective foil on the cover that probably wouldn't scan too well. Could be worth a shot though.

Tatsujin is Truxton in the US right? Far as I know they all used the same artwork so I should be able to track something down. And yeah I'm definitely interested in this little project. It would be interesting to try and make a Korean Sega template, I'm sure I'd be te first to do it Count me in.

Yeah, sounds good. It wouldn't exactly be a comprehensive template (off the top of my head I can think of 6 major variations based on year), but it would be a template for games that came out very early in the system's life. Now the hard part -- getting the scans on my end hehe
