Default Looking for advice on modding a CDX

Hello all. Long time lurker first time poster as they say.

I recently picked up a CDX and I love it. The audio blows away even my HDG Genesis 1.
The video output on the other hand seems a bit worse than my Gen 1.

I've done some modding on other consoles before though not extensively so I'm somewhat comfortable doing it. I see that others have s-video modded a CDX (though it seems to be a pain to do because of the limited space inside). The easiest option seems to be a scart to YUV converter to output via component. I'm not opposed to this but having all that extra crap plugged in seems to kinda defeat my aim of being able to cram the CDX into the small space I have available for it.

Thanks and I appreciate any advice anyone has.

RGB to Component converters aren't THAT big. And besides, you'll get a better picture through Component than you will through S-Video. I've already damaged my CDX just by opening it to try and recalibrate the laser(it won't read any of my burnt Sega CD discs). To top it off, it's REALLY cramped in the CDX. Go for an RGB to Component converter, you'll be better served.

Yeah, I agree that component would be better for picture quality. Part of the reason that I picked up a CDX, apart from just the "coolness" of it was that it fits where a regular Gen/SCD won't. I even have very limited space to plug in another "wall wart" that the scart to YUV would require in addition to the fact that the TV that I'm using here seems to (at least from what I've read online about this particular model) be a bit flakey about accepting 240p signals via component. I can eventually work around these issues and I guess it's just part of the "fun" of dealing with older consoles.
