Xbox 360 Voice Communications

Here's the problem, I CAN'T HEAR ANYONE TALKING!!!!
I can see the icon above their heads when they talk and a weird hard to explain noise, its like I can only hear the background noise?
I have set other peoples voice to play through the speakers (as I do not yet have a headset). But all I can hear is their background sound and a very distorted "voice" like sound. Although the game sounds fine. It does this in all my games.
I've tried everything. I don't think it could be my internet connection as it is a VERY fast connection for a cheap price (about 15.88mbps). The way I have my 360 hooked up to xbox live is via the crossover cable method, I have the 360 directly hooked into my PC's LAN connector, and I use the PC's WiFi adapter to get online (because my router is in the living room, but my 360 is in my room, and I don't feel like running 30ft.+ Ethernet cable) It lets me sign in to Xbox Live, play online, download demos, etc. Its just that the voice sounds VERY distorted with background sounds coming through, such as, fans, TV's, radios, etc. but not the other person's voice?
If anyone has a solution, It would be GREATLY appreciated.

More like have to listen to 5 yr. olds cry 5 more minutes please while a n00b is CONSTANTLY squealling "hacks" in the background.
Now I sorta wished I didn't have a mic.
The only tactic I have seen in halo 3 is where you try to attack one person while you have like 3 running after you, which usually results in almost instant death and an immature t-bagging. It's hopeless to try and go up the ranks.
And there is A LOT of racist people on XBL. I have already reported at least 20.

Now that you talk about racism, and seeing you're from Georgia, I'm going to assume you are black, or at least have black heritage. Welcome to online gaming. I am latin, and americans have a hard time figuring out I am with my voice only, as I don't have a foreign accent. Now, these kids nowadays think it's funny to shout "nigger" or "shut up, you wetback" and such jewels. Really sad. While game-related trash talking is stimulating: "you suck man!" "your can't aim for shit", etc, racist remarks are always uncalled for, but these kids think it's funny. I don't think the ESRB rating is something written in stone, as I've spent my entire childhood playing Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Goldeneye, and many others, and I'm not a serial killer or a sociopath. Modern games with online however are a different story. 10 year olds can suddenly play with 24 year olds, and this can lead to not so ideal combinations of vocabulary and slang. The above racist remarks are the result of this mix. Mileage can vary, of course.

Actually no, I am not black, I am white, But that doesn't mean I am against black people or Hispanics or Asians or any other race. I just find it sickening how in this modern day, that racism is still alive and well. To me, I don't care what color you are, just what you have in your mind.

Oh, ok. I just connected a few dots based on what you said in your post. I know there are a lot of blacks in GA, and as you talked about racism, I assumed you were harassed in some way. And yes, racism is IMO, one of the worst problems affecting the modern world. It's sad to see how humanity has achieved so much in every field and still has such close minded views on race. That and religious zeal, but I don't want to start a debate on religion, I prefer to leave it at that.

(which I'm not, and no, I have nothing against Jewish people.), and saying hurtful things like "I WISH HITLER HAD SUCCEEDED"along with, I guess he was one of his friends, had a computer REPEATEDLY saying "WHITE POWER", not only was it racist as could be, IT WAS ANNOYING!!! HE PLAYED THAT THE ENTIRE MATCH!!!
I come onto Xbox live to have a great time and maybe a few laughs, make some friends, not have someone with a very closed mind make an a** of himself in front of the entire gaming community.

When are we, as a species, learn to accept and embrace one another?
I wonder what the world would be like without racism, or religious extremists, but that's another subject entirely.

Funny thing is, how could he tell you "were" jewish based on voice alone? I'm no expert on accents or vocal mannerisms, but I've had my fair share of experience on customer service over the phone when I worked for Western Union. I've listened to every kind of voice out there, every single accent on the US, male and female, and by that I wouldn't know if you were jewish or not. You'd be surprised to know how similar people sound on the phone, I'd say that humans only have less than 100 voice types. You have unique voices like Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken, etc, but EVERYONE ELSE has a voice double out there. Many voice doubles actually.

Side tracking aside, those kind of racists, "White Power" and whatever they stand for, I despise. "Purism of races" only exists within certain parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. Everything else is a mix, a very complex one. And most of those that are truly "pure" couldn't care less about it.

On xbox live I have found maybe 3 different voices

IDK why he thought I was Jewish, he had a modded gamer pic of a swastika.
(hopefully Microsoft will find it and ban him, along with his annoying friend)
No sooner than we got into a match he started to kill of his own team.
(hence his name "I BETRAY JEVVS") So I would assume that he thought we were all Jewish. I received at least 5 messages from him afterward before I blocked communication. All of which were completely uncalled for and hurtful.
So I sent a message saying "I don't have the time to listen to you fail at life, now quite using my internet bandwidth with your stupid close minded messages.")
